Description : More than a decade ago, Jerry Sittser prayed for the protection of his family, yet three of his loved ones—his daughter, his wife, and his mother—died in an automobile accident. What went wrong? “Why wasn’t my prayer answered?” he asks. “It is no longer an abstract question to me. What should we do and how should we respond when our prayers—prayers that seem right and true and good—go unanswered?”In When God Doesn’t Answer Your Prayer, Sittser continues exploring the issues he addressed in A Grace Disguised. He asks, “Why doesn’t God answer our prayers? What, if anything, can we do about it?” Sittser is intensely committed to exploring the Christian faith, especially when it doesn’t seem to “work.” In this thoughtful and beautifully written book, he moves beyond easy answers and religious formulas to explore the goodness and greatness of a God who cannot be controlled but can be trusted. When God Doesn’t Answer Your Prayer takes an honest and probing look at the problem of unanswered prayer. In doing so, it draws us ever deeper into a relationship with the God who is the end of all our prayers, the object of our faith, the one who fulfills our deepest longings.

Description : "Life's too short. I'm not." You might know her as a Tony Award-winning Broadway star, who originated the role of Galinda the Good Witch in the smash musical Wicked and won a Tony for 1999's You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Or you may recognize her from her starring roles on TV -- The West Wing, Pushing Daisies, Sesame Street...oh, and her Huge Hit Sitcom Kristin on NBC. (Huge hit. L.A. breast-implant huge. Ask either of the people who watched it.) Or maybe you saw her sexy spread in FHM magazine? Or her appearance on Pat Robertson's The 700 Club? Kristin is a wonderful collection of contradictions -- but everyone who's ever met her remembers her as the little girl with the big voice. At four foot eleven, Kristin Chenoweth is an immense talent in a petite but powerful package. In this lively, laugh-out-loud book, Kristin shares her journey from Oklahoma beauty queen to Broadway leading lady, reflecting on how faith and family have kept her grounded in the dysfunctional rodeo of show biz. The daughter of an engineer and a nurse, Kristin was singing in front of thousands at Baptist conventions by age twelve and winning beauty pageants by age twenty-two. (Well, actually she was second runner-up almost every freaking time. But, hey, she's not bitter.) On her way to a career as a professional opera singer, she stopped in New York to visit a friend and went on a whim to an audition. Through a combination of talent, hard work, and (she's quick to add) the grace of God, Kristin took Broadway by storm. But of course, into every storm, the occasional drizzle of disaster must fall. Filled with wit, wisdom, and backstage insight, A Little Bit Wicked is long on love and short on sleep; it's essential reading for Kristin's legions of fans and an uplifting story for anyone seeking motivation to follow his or her dreams -- over the rainbow and beyond.
Description : This book is written to help humans to understand who they are, what their lifes mission is, what happens when they leave this life and how to live and die without fear of the unknown. This is a powerful dialogue between the writer and his guardian angel that brings to light information that was meant to be shared with the world. We, as humans, have worries, fears, and obligations that we live by blindly, according to what we were taught. We seek happiness through different channels that could be called God, Spirit, the Universe, etc., and we do not understand why we are doing what we are doing. The writings in this book will take the reader through a journey to self awareness where the answers to living in happiness without worries, fears, or obligations reside. This journey is to show every human how to finish a life that started with rules and conditions, in awareness and considerate living.
Description : In the strange, us-versus-them Christian subculture of the 1990s, a person’s faith was measured by how many WWJD bracelets she wore and whether he had kissed dating goodbye. Evangelical poster child Addie Zierman wore three bracelets asking what Jesus would do. She also led two Bible studies and listened exclusively to Christian music. She was on fire for God and unaware that the flame was dwindling—until it burned out. Addie chronicles her journey through church culture and first love, and her entrance—unprepared and angry—into marriage. When she drops out of church and very nearly her marriage as well, it is on a sea of tequila and depression. She isn’t sure if she’ll ever go back. When We Were on Fire is a funny, heartbreaking story of untangling oneself from what is expected to arrive at faith that is not bound by tradition or current church fashion. Addie looks for what lasts when nothing else seems worth keeping. It’s a story for doubters, cynics, and anyone who has felt alone in church.
