Description : The Book of Proverbs is a practical message from God on how to live your life. The book is structured and highlights the "must know" information to help you become the person you want to be. There are many important questions in life. How would you respond if someone asks you to become rich at the expense of others? How do you identify those who want to use you? How do you respond to authority? Why learn and strive? What are we doing here anyway? What do people expect? What difference does it make anyway? How do I know what is best for me? Proverbs are wise sayings that answer these issues. Proverbs explain the problems and give the answers. Understand them and you cannot fail. They are presented so you will be riveted to the next phase of the process, building from simple things to the most complex. We all want to win, but we need to know is how to do it.

Description : A Practical Exposition of the Book of Proverbs - George Lawson (1749 - 1820) Of Augustus Caesar it is said, that when he read the works of men of learning and genius, he used to extract such precepts as might prove useful to him in his government. This part of his conduct manifested wisdom; the precepts thus collected, served to assist him and his ministers in managing the affairs of the empire. But the necessity of our imitating this part of his conduct, has been in a great measure superseded by that Spirit of truth, under whose guidance Solomon wrote his Proverbs, and transmitted them to future ages for their instruction in righteousness. In this little book there appears more wisdom than in the combined monuments of Greek and Roman learning. The wisest of men wrote it, and his object is to make us wise. But a greater than Solomon is here, for Wisdom speaks in her own person. The first nine chapters are a preface to the book. In it Solomon recommends to our study, that wisdom which he designs to teach, and insists on some of her most useful precepts.

Description : Those Practical Proverbs is a verse-by-verse commentary on the book of Proverbs from a pastor's perspective. It begins with an exploration of the authorship of Proverbs--most of which was written by King Solomon, with brief sections by Agur, the son of Jakeh, and the words of King Lemuel (from an oracle, which his mother taught him). It proceeds to an explanation of the structure of Hebrew poetry, a list of some of the topics addressed in the book, and an outline of the book. The opening chapters of Proverbs (1-9) consist of longer "wisdom poems" on a variety of significant subjects. Most chapters of Proverbs consist of single-verse observations concerning many of life's practical concerns (with occasional multiverse entries). The book concludes with the entries of Agur and King Lemuel and, finally, the classic alphabetic acrostic poem regarding the "excellent wife." Because the book focuses largely on the wisdom and understanding, which find their origin in the fear of the Lord, it is among the most life-enriching books ever written. It is extremely important for anyone who longs for practical guidance in the many issues of life.
