Description : Nefesh HaTzimtzum provides the single most comprehensive and accessible presentation of the teachings and worldview of the Vilna Gaon's primary student, Rabbi Chaim Volozhin. It is focused on Rabbi Chaim's magnum opus, Nefesh HaChaim, a work that has lain in almost total obscurity for nearly two centuries due to its deep Kabbalistic subject matter. Nefesh HaTzimtzum opens up the real depth of the ideas presented in Nefesh HaChaim together with all of Rabbi Chaim's related writings, making them accessible to the public for the first time in any language. In addition to the complete English translation of Nefesh HaChaim, Nefesh HaTzimtzum includes the full Hebrew text of Nefesh HaChaim and many other writings by Rabbi Chaim (with correspondingly hyperlinked English and Hebrew texts), along with in-depth explanations, an informative historical overview, an easily consumable innovative presentation layout and a full index. After centuries of confusion, extensive clarification is provided of the central Kabbalistic concept of Tzimtzum, or the secret of how an infinite God occupies a finite world. Most importantly, it unequivocally demonstrates that the key Kabbalists, including the Vilna Gaon, Rabbi Chaim Volozhin and the Baal HaTanya, all unanimously agreed on the underlying principles of the concept of Tzimtzum and that contrary to widespread historical misunderstanding, there was no fundamental dispute about the philosophical principles of Judaism between the Hasidim and the Mitnagdim. Based on this Nefesh HaTzimtzum shows that both Nefesh HaChaim and Sefer HaTanya present the same methodology for serving God which is rooted in their identical understanding of the concept of Tzimtzum. Nefesh HaTzimtzum is published in two volumes which are sold separately. This companion volume presents a number of important concepts, including the concept of Tzimtzum, which together enable the true depth of Nefesh HaChaim to be understood. It also adds valuable insight by providing the translation of all of Rabbi Chaim Volozhin's published writings which are related to Nefesh HaChaim. Additional related writings are also included together with detailed outlines and a full index for both volumes.

Description : "So what?" That's the response many people have to the Bible. Read a passage, interpret it, and still they ask, "So, what difference does that make in my life?" In the Life Essentials Study Bible, renowned Bible teacher Gene Getz complements the full text of the popular HCSB translation by elaborating on 1,500 principles in Scripture that are as relevant today as when the sixty- six books of the Bible were written. Distilling these truths into principles, Getz helps the reader more easily remember and effectively apply the Bible's wisdom to everyday life. He explains how each of these principles represents a supracultural truth - one that can and should be applied at any moment in history and in every cultural situation. In addition, the Life Essentials Study Bible was created with an integrated digital study system--more than 250 hours of free online coaching content led by Getz--that fosters a greater understanding of the Bible's grand story. Along the way, Getz adds pertinent questions in print to inspire personal reflection or group discussion of each principle. There's also an introduction to each book of the Bible and its list of corresponding principles, plus a topical index and cross references for all 1,500 principles. Other features of this dynamic study Bible - available in six different editions - include a two-piece gift box (leather editions only) as well as a presentation page. "Owning a copy of this astounding project containing the prodigious work and wisdom of my friend and mentor Gene Getz will be like having him in the next room -- available to advise me on every passage. Being able to access his video teaching on each of the 1,500 ‘Principles to Live By’ is a breakthrough approach, making this truly the first multi-media study Bible. What a treasure! I know it will inform my own writing." Jerry Jenkins, owner, Christian Writer's Guild, and author of the Left Behind series

Description : In today’s world, it can be difficult to maintain your faith. Those seeking a greater understanding of the Bible have numerous excellent theological commentaries available to them, but due to volume and depth, many of these are out of reach of laypeople. Others lose contact with the Bible because it no longer seems relevant to life. They use a superficial knowledge of science and evolution to exclude God and faith from their experiences. The Layman’s Commentary: Volume 3—Books of Wisdom presents a passage by passage explanation of the five Books of the Bible, known as Wisdom. In this third volume, author John Devine shows how these books address most of the issues of life from the existence of evil and suffering to the frustrations and futility of worldly philosophies. They give an understanding of existence and provide the path to a meaningful life. He explains God’s continued selfrevelation and plan for a relationship with humankind and considers the conflict and consequences of the desire of the individual to be independent from God. The third book in The Layman’s Commentary series, Volume 3—Books of Wisdomshows that knowledge and experience from this period is still valid today, both the promises and the warnings, because God’s character has not changed – nor has the frailty of human nature. Devine draws out the practical application of these timeless truths as they relate to everyday experience and shows how they confirm that science and faith are complementary in an informed worldview. They include guidelines that enrich our personal relationship with God.

Description : God’s Word is final and needs no further interpretation for it to make sense. If we would take the Word of God as it is written in the Bible, we would not have the many misunderstandings of the scripture that so many people are having. Although the Word of God has already made it very clear where the souls of the dead saints are, there are some preachers that want us to believe that when a Christian dies, we go immediately to heaven. The Bible did not say that, so the Lord gave me this revelation, reinforcing what the scripture has already said according to the words of the apostle Paul in First Thessalonians 4:13–18. Paul’s experience, where the revelation of the Lord is concerned regarding this matter, was not his idea; it was the revelation of the Lord. I can also say that this revelation that I write about regarding the matter is not my idea; they are the revelations of the Lord. He gave them to me, so I hope that this revelation will help make it clear that we are all here waiting for the Rapture. The Lord gave me the revelation of the Rapture also and not just the apostle Paul. It is in the book. The revelation of the Lord was not just for the apostles. God is still Lord of his church and will continue to give revelations to whomever he chooses to give them to.

Description : The Eastern Christian liturgical tradition of Lent has long included the chanting of the Songs of Ascents (Pss 120-134) as "entrance songs" of not only the special penance service known as the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts, but also of the season of repentance. Ruckhaus' commentary in As Though We Were Dreaming provides theological insight and exegetical breadth to this group of Psalms. Even more so, Ruckhaus drives the reader to engage the Songs of Ascents and participate in the descent and ascent of meaningful and life-changing repentance. The commentary here does more than just compare the struggle of the ancient Jews reflected in the Songs of Ascents with that of the early Christian community and our own experience. Ruckhaus insists on a "gutteral connection" between the anxiety and hope of reconstituting the people of God after the disaster of the exile and that of the passion of Jesus. "The gospel story is already genetically encoded in the story of Israel." The liturgical incorporation of the Songs of Ascents in the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts "grounds" the Church's participation in the Great Story. We don't borrow the ancient psalms of the Jews' struggle to reconstitute a kingdom of God; we share in that struggle.

Description : Sums up the victory of the cross in four words and explores what that means for us. Freedom, forgiveness, justice, and purpose. We long for them in our lives and in the world. The cross delivers them! Yet sometimes we are so familiar with the cross that it loses its impact on us. We forget that Jesus' death on the cross and his resurrection are the most important events in human history and our lives. The cross is the fulfillment of God's salvation plan, promised from the dawn of time. It is central to the Bible, central to our faith, and central to the meaning and purpose of our lives. This foundational book looks at passages from both the Old and New Testaments to sum up the victory of the cross in four words: freedom, forgiveness, justice, and purpose, and what that means for us personally. Marvel at the cross afresh and be moved to love and serve the Lord Jesus with renewed zeal and joy. This short yet profound book is a very useful discipleship tool. It can be read individually, in pairs, or in small groups.

Description : The uniqueness of the book of Psalms is that Christ is hidden in it. It is the wisdom of God to hide his secrets and it is the glory of the kings to unravel it. THE BOOK THAT JESUS LOVED will help you unravel this mystery and feel the spiritual thrill of doing so. The Psalms are full of surprises which you never expected in the first place. In going through each Psalm carefully, you will discover the drama behind it, with a subtle plot planted skillfully. As you delve deeper, you drink from the eternal fountain of the wellspring of God. The book offers profound psychological insights. The burden of Davids guilt is juxtaposed with those of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, bringing in Shakespearian analogies to illustrate the monstrous reality of guilt. Macbeth had conscious guilt, while Lady Macbeth had subconscious guilt because she was trying to suppress it; but David had confessed guilt, confessed and forgiven, because he has a God who forgives sin. While David rejoiced and Macbeth was depressed, Lady Macbeth started sleep-walking, constantly trying to wipe the traces of blood she imagined were in her hands: Here's the smell of the blood still. All the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand. O, O, O! In the end, unable to bear the burden of her guilt, she commits suicide. Reading through THE BOOK JESUS LOVED is a life-transforming experience you should never miss.
