Description : This collection of essays and reviews represents the most significant and comprehensive writing on Shakespeare's A Comedy of Errors. Miola's edited work also features a comprehensive critical history, coupled with a full bibliography and photographs of major productions of the play from around the world. In the collection, there are five previously unpublished essays. The topics covered in these new essays are women in the play, the play's debt to contemporary theater, its critical and performance histories in Germany and Japan, the metrical variety of the play, and the distinctly modern perspective on the play as containing dark and disturbing elements. To compliment these new essays, the collection features significant scholarship and commentary on The Comedy of Errors that is published in obscure and difficulty accessible journals, newspapers, and other sources. This collection brings together these essays for the first time.

Description : Andrea Jones has one life goal—to NOT be like her mom. She won’t be knocked up at eighteen, in a dead-end job, and living in a trailer park forever. She’s not a fan of school but in 1987, going to college is the only path out of her dysfunctional world and nothing will stop her. Not even a chance at a full scholarship to her boss’s old beauty school—a job she’d totally rock but one that’s too close for comfort. Then along comes Gio Ruiz. Suave, confident, and sure of his future, he sends Andrea’s plans into a tailspin—along with her heart. He seeks trade school and a simpler life, dangerously close to what she is trying to avoid. Still, his no-nonsense attitude toward the merits of college makes her question if it’s even what she really wants. Their relationship flourishes until their opposite worlds collide. His private school peers create doubt while her public school enemies drag her past into the present, forcing her to confront her biggest fears and jeopardizing her plans for her future. …An overdose. …An unintended pregnancy. …And one potentially deadly choice.

In summer 2006, Beirut found itself once more under siege as Israeli missiles rained upon the capital. Description : An eagerly awaited collection of stories dealing with domestic abuse, edited by the New York Times bestselling author Zane. Breaking the Cycle is a stunning and moving anthology of stories, each of which focuses on an aspect of domestic abuse. This powerful collection is sure to serve as a wake-up call for people either dealing with a domestic abuse situation, or those watching someone else endure it. In the title story, Zane describes the turmoil that a young girl suffers at the hands of her stepfather. The girl and her mother plan their escape, but at the last minute the mother falters. In D.V. Bernard's "The Lonely Echoes of My Youth," readers are introduced to a young boy raising himself on the fringes of a drug-infested neigborhood. Nane Quartay's provocative story, "The Grindstone," describes a boy who witnesses a brutal murder which will have far-reaching effects on him and his family. Tracy Price-Thompson weaves a powerful tale in "The Stranger" when a woman constantly abused by her husband finds inner strength after a brutal attack. Collen Dixon's "The Break of Dawn" will keep readers deep in thought long after they finish reading her story about a young desperate mother terrifed that her own daughter will grow up and become victimized herself. Dywane D. Birch's "Victory Begins With Me" reflects how one woman has to struggle to get her life back to normal. Shonda Cheekes' "Silent Suffering" flips the script when a man finds himself abused by the female in his life. Newcomer J.L. Woodson's "God Does Answer Prayers" deals with a young boy fighting for his life in a hospital bed, put there by one of the people who is supposed to love him the most: a parent. These stories capture the dangerous realities of domestic abuse, while also pointing toward the steps that need to be taken to break the cycle that perpetuates it. It is sure to serve as a rallying cry for all those who desire victory over their own victimization, and a guide for understanding the complex undercurrents that make such patterns possible.

Description : Breaking the Cycle of Mass Atrocities investigates the role of international criminal law at different stages of mass atrocities, shifting away from its narrow understanding solely as an instrument of punishment of those most responsible. The book is premised on the idea that there are distinct phases of collective violence, and international criminal law contributes in one way or another to each phase. The authors therefore explore various possibilities for international criminal law to be of assistance in breaking the vicious cycle at its different junctures.

Description : This book demonstrates how school reforms of the past 200 years share many common flaws. Based on an intensive three-year study of school reform in the United States, Breaking the Cycle of Failed School Reform analyzes and critiques the following historical reform movements: Lancastrian Plan, 1806; Age-graded Plan, 1848; Gary Plan, 1906; Trump Plan, 1959; School Development Plan, 1968; and Coalition of Essential Schools, 1984. Emerging from the study was a set of reform rubrics. These six rubrics, each corresponding to twenty-six distinct variables, provide today's educators a lens through which their schools can be assessed against the historic plans. This process allows educators to easily determine their school's strengths and weaknesses with a strong sense of historical perspective. The book concludes with a set of recommendations for practitioners, policy developers, and researchers for what has to be included if school reform is to be successful in the future.

Description : Sandy Riggin is a counselor and abuse survivor. During her personal journey of healing, she discovered a method of recovery that leads to resolution of childhood abuse. She combines traditional cognitive therapy with a new counseling paradigm called Cognitive Emotional Restructuring Therapy that addresses the abuse itself on an emotional level. CERT helps abuse survivors change the messages they give themselves and shows them how to face the abuse. She takes them back to the abuse itself and to who they were as children when the abuse was happening. She teaches them how to embrace their inner children, emotionally restructure what happened and to forgive their perpetrators. She teaches them how to speak their truth and to resolve the abuse on an emotional level. She completes the circle by reintegrating the cognitive tools so abuse survivors can help their inner children to grow up emotionally.

Description : In 1990 when I was 14 years of age, my father shot my mother, then he shot himself. They both died. Before their death my father was on a 12 month rampage, where he was threatened to kill our whole family. The police knew of this. My father was also friends with some of them.My father manipulated and tortured me continuously. I believe he should of been stopped. My mother fled out of the state we resided in. (The NSW police had lost all the paperwork... I now have this paperwork in my possession). My father put a contract out on my mothers life. The hired hit man had a change of heart. He reported the communication to crime-stoppers. So, my father then tracked my mother down himself and then killed her.Because this happened out of our State the lead up was never investigated. However, I have done the investigating myself. I believe I have uncovered the truth. There are plenty of people who did not want these findings to surface. The truth shall prevail. I believe the police did not act in our best interests, and this cost our mother her life. I believe, at the very least, my sisters and I deserve an apology.

Description : Breaking the Cycle gives hope to individuals and families affected by such patterns. Drawing on a wealth of personal experience and academic expertise, Saniyyah Mayo offers victims a way out: first by empowering them to recognize the cycles where they occur, and then by offering them concrete tools to address the root of the problem. Using detailed case studies to exemplify how such cycles are born and how they can seriously impact those around us (even when we overlook the signs of trouble), Mayo gives lucid, point-by-point instruction on how and when to create "boundaries" as a defense against cyclical problems. Mayo leaves no stone unturned in her exhaustive study of such cycles.
