Deal Breakers Book Excerpt:

Deciding when to work on a relationship and when to walk away is a skill that can prevent us wasting months and even years of our lives on partners that will never make us truly happy. Once we have learned to identify the deal breaker in a relationship we can empower ourselves to action, and then change and improve our lives. Whereas books like 'He's Just Not That Into You' explored relationship troubles in black and white, 'Deal Breakers' covers all the shades of grey that lie in between - all those areas where relationships can hit an impasse. Some deal breakers are easy to identify - one partner wants marriage, the other doesn't - yet many are more subtle and difficult to pinpoint. Dr Bethany Marshall is a relationships expert. She has identified specific male archetypes and the traits that frustrate and infuriate their partners. Here, for the first time in book form, is advice that can help any woman who is trying too hard to make her relationship work.

Is Cheating a Deal Breaker In a Marriage Book Excerpt:

The topic of marriage is challenging with itself, but when you add the element of cheating and you create a powder keg of emotions that can be expressed by every individual experience. Some arguments are based in reality while others take on a life of their own. Just like the rational and irrational person connected to the comment that is being articulated. Then you have to consider if the interested party has ever been in a serious committed relationship even similar or on the same level as the legally binding contract of marital matrimony. At which point the aspect of cheating must be applied as a term and condition included into the conversation that is being debated. I have never been married but I have been in situations that could have led to the engagement process but because my level of trust in the other partner was not sufficient to move forward in the procedure. I feel as if I could interject my opinion in the discussion otherwise I would have not even considered writing a book on this subject matter. It would have been silly of me unless I was a comedian or an ill-informed jester who is only interested in listening to the sound of my own voice. I am not clown or an investigative news reporter who thinks less of fact checking their source of information for flaws or inaccurate statistics. Relations and infidelity are issues that I am familiar with and I talk about frequently because they are very relevant and prevalent in American culture and around the globe. Now let’s tackle the last portion of the equation. Cheating in itself is an act of deception. Most women are more troubled with the man that they love and care about lying to them than the physical act of intimacy. And most men are usually more upset that their lover chose a man of convenience who is usually a loser in everyday life that has nothing going for him. A broke bum is his replacement in so many cases. And when he finds out his anger burns hotter than the flames of the inferno of Satan’s lair. Why would any wife choose a financially inept buffoon over a loving providing husband? Men are just as comical in their choice of replacement physical conquests. They usually choose a younger damsel in need of saving such as a stripper or escort of some type in search of a loving source of cash flow from an older gentleman known as a sugar daddy. He provides the cash and she supplies physical pleasure beyond his wildest dreams. She gives him the sense of virility and masculinity that he is missing at home. This in itself is a marriage of convenience and co-dependency that will continue until it is discovered by his loving spouse or another younger more excitingly exotic conquest comes along and rekindles his youthful illusions. These sexual acts create a delusional sensation as powerful as the most addictive drugs known to mankind. He will move like a panther stalking his prey to get that love making conquest one more time like a junkie anticipating their next fix. This is until his wife discovers his manipulative actions. At that point the storm erupts into massive devastation that can only be calmed by revealing each and every factual exploitation and explanation of his intimate encounters. Then the storm calms for a brief moment of reflection. Words and emotions become harder and harder to express between long-time lovers. Trust is broken and those warm feelings start to fade into the background. The broken-hearted spouse has several questions to answer. Will the candles of affection be lit again? And will they continue to burn or forever be smothered by the suspicion and the separation of divorce? These decisions are often difficult to make due to the magnitude of the consequences involved.

Finding Private Venture Capital for Your Firm Book Excerpt:

How to get private risk capital for your business venture. Each year, more than 490,000 private venture capitalists, or ``business angels,'' commit $56 billion to new and expanding firms owned by over 87,000 entrepreneurs. This private investment activity exceeds that of venture capital firms by 13 times in dollars, and by 40 times in number of transactions. This book is the first to accurately describe who these private investors are, and why they back (or fail to back) certain ventures. It also explains just how the transaction is consummated, with many examples of successful (and unsuccessful) investor-entrepreneur match-ups. Includes nine specific reasons why seriously-considered deals are rejected, and their relative killing power. Based on a representative national sample of ``business angels,'' the data collection for this book took five years to complete and was sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration.
