Summary of Priscilla Shirer s Discerning the Voice of God Book Excerpt:

Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 When we want to hear from God, we must first slow down, quiet our hearts, and listen for His Spirit’s direction. This isn’t just relevant for prayer, but for all aspects of our lives. #2 As you begin your journey through the pages of this book, consider what’s on your list of questions for God right now. If you’re always impatient, you leave little space for God’s leading to resonate in your already crowded schedule. #3 There are a million questions you can ask yourself, and the answer to one of them is where the journey of hearing God begins. Take time to hear from God, see what He has to say, and wait for His direction. #4 The most common reason we don’t hear from God is that we’re not listening. We must discipline ourselves to listen and hear God’s voice in prayer.

Satan Has No Authority Over God s Soldier Book Excerpt:

This book is meant to illuminate Godlike faith through defining it, giving clarification where it comes from, revealing how to walk in it, and divulging what it is capable of doing. God’s soldiers must remember that we are in the army of the Lord. We are fighting a supernatural enemy bent on our destruction. Only Godlike faith knows that Satan has no authority or power over us. That knowledge equips us with the ability to overcome the satanic designs that are aimed at our destruction. However, many Christians are not walking in Godlike faith or living a victorious life in Christ. Many are overwhelmed by defeat and discouragement, and are allowing Satan to take authority or power that he does not have. It’s time to walk in the truth that Christ took his authority and gave it to God’s soldiers. As we learn to walk in the mind of Christ, we have Godlike faith that gives no place to Satan, his demons, or his diabolical plans to destroy us. By the time this book is read to the end, God’s soldiers will take authority over all satanic designs, change the entailment, and live a victorious life through Godlike faith.

Bible Study Guide for Churches Small House Fellowships and Discussion Groups Book Excerpt:

In my many years of attending Bible study, I have found that many who attend barely grow beyond the level of being fed the word of God. Many are stocked in the level of milk without the capacity to handle the solid word of God. The aptitude and zeal to understand and rightly share the word of God is absent in the greater percentage of church attendees today. Every good shepherd desire that their flocks grow in their spiritual muscle and be able to stand anywhere and anytime on their faith feet without being tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine. However, due to various environmental and organizational challenges, a small group Bible study setting may be lacking in many churches. The members may attend worship services on Sunday and other times, and listen to the pastor's sermon day after day, but never have the opportunity to contribute their God-given ideas or ask questions that could strengthen their courage to share their faith with understanding. This book is designed to challenge believers in reading a passage of the scripture and equip them with spiritual-warfare weapon in memory verse during each Bible study session. The individual will have the opportunity to learn and discuss the weekly topic and questions that follow every introduction to the topic. The study guide is simply arranged to enable any believer or group of believers and families to use in any Bible study group setting. The study guide discusses various topics with supporting scriptural references to equip participants with practical knowledge and applications to their daily Christian living. Bible Study Guide for Churches, Small House Fellowships, and Discussion Groups is a must-have handbook for pastors, leaders of various Christian fellowship groups, and believers that will love to grow in their Christian walk.

How to Know the Will of God Book Excerpt:

This book is about how to know God's will through the scriptures and wisdom instead of by supposedly hearing God's voice. All my books can be read online for free at http://wayneodonnell.com. “Freely you have received, freely give” (Mt. 10:8). This booklet is included in and comprises several sections in my book “Paul’s Decision Making in Acts: Anti-Charismatic Pro-Jewish Commentary on Acts.” In 1980, Garry Friesen wrote "Decision Making and the Will of God," a book that debunked the traditional view that God leads by inward impressions into His perfect, specific will. But Bible teachers continue teach prayer is a two-way conversation; churches continue to question pastoral candidates about their ‘call’ to the ministry; and Christians continue to try to discern God’s inner voice to make decisions. Maybe it would help if we had more scholarly journal articles on the topic. Grudem. I ... categorized the articles published in three refereed evangelical journals for the last five years [before 2000]: Westminster Theological Journal, … Trinity Journal, … and … the Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society. Not counting book reviews, there were 257 scholarly articles [on all topics]. … [But regarding] God’s guidance in our daily lives. Zero articles. Yet some understanding of God’s guidance affects every Christian every day of his or her life! … Either Garry Friesen is right on that topic, or he’s wrong. … We should expect to see many more scholars contributing articles and books supporting and developing their viewpoints. Christians in the book of Acts made their decisions by the Word and Wisdom, not by listening for inward impressions. I would love to read an exposition of the Book of Acts that showed Paul, the other apostles, and their co-workers, making most of their decisions by listening for inward impressions, but it would require reading that doctrine into the text, rather than expositing it out of the text. Friesen. In order to arrive at the conclusion of the traditional approach [to decision-making], it is necessary to water down the biblical examples and spice up the biblical teaching. Examples [like in Acts] are watered down to be less miraculous than they really are [so we can think we’re doing them too]. Biblical teaching [like in the epistles] must be spiced up to be more specific than it really is [for example, a promise to Israel to “guide you continually” (Is. 58:11), doesn’t actually say anything about Christians being guided by ‘inward impressions’]. Paul made most of his decisions by the Word and Wisdom, not by inward impressions, and only rarely by direct revelation, even though he was the apostle on the cutting-edge of Jesus’ mission to bring the gospel to the Gentiles. Most of Paul’s decisions in Acts can be explained 17 principles he followed.

Rerouting Book Excerpt:

When we lack a basic understanding of what the Church teaches, we can feel as if we’re on a road without a map, or have the wrong map, or only pieces of the map. So how can we journey to the Father and the eternal life Christ won for us? Rerouting addresses this problem head on, putting the map once again into our hands—or, in today’s language, providing us with the voice of a GPS device telling us where we must go in order to come safely home. Fr. Riccardo, in his distinctive, incisive way, brings us face-to-face with Christ as the Church has proclaimed him from its earliest days. Guiding us around obstacles we often face as we try to understand our faith, this book answers questions Catholics commonly ask: What is the goal of human life? What really happens at Mass? Why is sexuality holy, and why must it be treated as such? In the culture in which we live, we can often be blinded to transcendence—and therefore to the saving work of Christ’s passion, death, and resurrection. Rerouting presents us with a sweeping vista of what we believe in a way that makes sense and causes our faith to grow and flourish, both in our hearts and in the world.
