Among Little Faces Book Excerpt:

Little Emma was only a baby when her 16-year-old mother brought her home to be raised under the care of her grandparents, Alma and Joe. A tiny bundle from heaven was all they knew and, despite the hardships and illnesses they must face together, Alma and Joe raised her as best as they could on their beautiful farm of Lilac Thyme. Eventually, Emma and her mother move away from the farm and now Emma must struggle to live with a mentally challenged sister as well as deal with her own incapacitating illness. It is more than anyone is prepared to handle, especially a sweet little girl like Emma, but Alma and Joe are not about to let their granddaughter lose hope. A beautiful, poignant story, as told by her grandmother, about a brave, young girl and the unforeseen circumstances that we must sometimes face...but not always on our own. Barb Bissonette grew up in Brampton, Ontario. She has successfully written various short stories and poems and is currently working on a new murder mystery. Barb is a nurse in Orillia where she lives with her husband, John. She has three children and three grandchildren. http: //SBPRA.com/BarbBissonette

The Digital God Book Excerpt:

As humans charge up the steep slope of technological innovation, Digital Age media increasingly shapes our perception of everything--even spiritual matters. The next stage of spiritual development may be the product of a digital interface between our own image of the divine, virtual reality technology that produces real perceptions, and with devices that stimulate areas of the brain associated with spiritual experience. This book explores the influence of digital media on spirituality and the impact of the digital environment on our experience of the spiritual world. The author predicts a future in which digital technology and neuroscience will combine to create a new understanding of the divine.

The Infernals Book Excerpt:

From New York Times bestselling author John Connolly, a wonderfully strange and brilliant novel about a boy, his dog, and their struggle to escape the wrath of demons. Young Samuel Johnson is in trouble. Not only is his eyesight so poor that he mistakenly asks out a letter box on a date, but an angry demon is seeking revenge for Samuel’s part in foiling the invasion of Earth by the forces of evil. It wants to get its claws on Samuel, and when Samuel and his faithful dachshund, Boswell, are pulled through a portal into the dark realm, the home of the Infernals, it gets its chance. But catching Samuel is not going to be easy, for the Infernals have not reckoned on the bravery and cleverness of a boy and his dog, or the loyalty of Samuel’s friend, the hapless demon Nurd, or the presence of two clueless policemen and the unlucky, if cheerfully optimistic, driver of an ice-cream van. Most of all, no one has planned on the intervention of an unexpected band of little men, for Samuel and Boswell are not the only inhabitants of Earth who have found themselves in the underworld. If you thought demons were frightening, just wait until you meet Mr. Merryweather’s Elves. . . .

Theory in Social and Cultural Anthropology Book Excerpt:

Social and cultural anthropology and archaeology are rich subjects with deep connections in the social and physical sciences. Over the past 150 years, the subject matter and different theoretical perspectives have expanded so greatly that no single individual can command all of it. Consequently, both advanced students and professionals may be confronted with theoretical positions and names of theorists with whom they are only partially familiar, if they have heard of them at all. Students, in particular, are likely to turn to the web to find quick background information on theorists and theories. However, most web-based information is inaccurate and/or lacks depth. Students and professionals need a source to provide a quick overview of a particular theory and theorist with just the basics—the "who, what, where, how, and why," if you will. In response, SAGE Reference plans to publish the two-volume Theory in Social and Cultural Anthropology: An Encyclopedia. Features & Benefits: Two volumes containing approximately 335 signed entries provide users with the most authoritative and thorough reference resource available on anthropology theory, both in terms of breadth and depth of coverage. To ease navigation between and among related entries, a Reader's Guide groups entries thematically and each entry is followed by Cross-References. In the electronic version, the Reader's Guide combines with the Cross-References and a detailed Index to provide robust search-and-browse capabilities. An appendix with a Chronology of Anthropology Theory allows students to easily chart directions and trends in thought and theory from early times to the present. Suggestions for Further Reading at the end of each entry and a Master Bibliography at the end guide readers to sources for more detailed research and discussion.

Tree Face and the Cripple Book Excerpt:

“First off, I didn't mean to kill my Dad.” Sam Croker did just that and yet it was the least of his problems. Crash-landed and alone in the South American rainforest, kilometers from anywhere, with no equipment or survival skills would be the ultimate challenge for almost anyone. But Sam has been paraplegic for years. He can’t walk. Has no feeling in his legs. Has no food, and no means to obtain it. If he lasts three days without being drowned, poisoned, or eaten it will be a miracle. That miracle arrives from two unexpected directions—a hideous face carved into a tree which invades Sam’s fevered mind as if it were alive and the disabled girl who worships it as her God—and so the first glimmers of possible rescue begin to shine. But the Kik-Kik wants to keep Sam for herself and drug smugglers want to hunt down and kill them all. Tree Face and the Cripple is a story of survival against the odds and an awkward, unlikely friendship based on profound misunderstandings. It is both a high-action suspense thriller with a shattering climax, and a spiritual journey for Sam from bitter, defeated, spoilt, rich kid, into someone altogether stronger. Well, it could be, if Sam lives that long.

Descend to the depths of primal horror with this chilling collection of original stories drawn from H. P. Lovecraft’s shocking, terrifying, and eerily prescient Cthulhu Mythos. In twenty-one dark visions, a host of outstanding contemporary writers tap into our innermost fears, with tales set in a misbegotten new world that could have been spawned only by the master of the macabre himself, H. P. Lovecraft. Canadian Clouds Book Excerpt:

I always loved clouds! Clouds inspire one's fantasy! It is interesting to find out what they are trying to tell us. Sometimes it happens that we can see faces in them. This happened to me on March 13th 2012 after I tried to get into contact with Jesus, while attending church. Nothing happened and I thought that Jesus wasn't interested. When I was leaving the church on my way home suddenly I noticed these crazy clouds in the sky and I took a picture of them. Later, when I looked at the picture more closely I noticed Jesus and other faces hidden in it. The second time this happened was when my daughter came for a visit. Again there were extreme clouds in the sky and I took a picture. Once more I saw several faces in it. Maybe you can find more faces in the photos of this book! I also included photos of rainbows, one double rainbow, as well as hail and ice photos! I hope that you will enjoy this book!
