Nice Place Shame about the Human race Book Excerpt:

He knew the earth experiment was still working even though the human-element component was running very much behind schedule. Tommy made a grumbling sound and slowly shook his furry head from side to side, crying, “Wars, greed, jealousy, illnesses, unhappiness, dissatisfaction, obsessions for power - It’s just not what I had expected!” “I know, but give it time. It will happen one day. The earth assignment is not as old as all the other projects we have been working upon”, Eric hastily reassured. Tommy was not about to give up on the present venture and with this thought in mind, he stared with his numerous eyes into Eric’s multiple eyes, and with many worrisome looks he mumbled, “ ..............it’s a nice place, shame about the human race!” The above is an extract taken from the final piece of my foreword for the book „Nice place, shame about the human race“ which attempts to create a better awareness of our everyday actions and elucidates the importance of discovering ones true identity for a better chance of living a happier, more balanced life. Mounting dissatisfactions and insecurities of our modern world, together with the general inquisitiveness of human nature to wish observe ones actions, are areas of modern life which have gained popularity over the last decade when searching for reasoning or answers to our everyday problems. Commencing at the aftermath of World War II and continuing to the present day, a journey is undertaken in trying to illustrate modern western society’s increased negative attitudes and behaviour and of the importance of discovering who we really are with a view to more personal happiness. This book is an entertaining, slightly ironical “check-in-the-mirror”, if you like, of modern behaviour. It observes how modern society has seemingly done away with aspiring to reach higher goals and standards, and at the same time, appears to have become content with mediocrity and of aiming towards lower levels of existence. My main justifications for writing such a book were primarily based upon the search for answers as to why society in the modern western world has reached its present state of development in the constitution of which it finds itself in the present day; if it is possible to live modern life in a more balanced, friendlier frame-of-mind which would inexorably, lead to more happiness, and as an attempt to help you, the reader, into being more aware of our daily conscious and subconscious conduct towards fellow-citizens and of the ensuing consequences of those actions. We are to journey through the many different stages of modern western life as based upon our upbringing in an industrialised society; and although you may have heard some of the themes and topics many times before, I have attempted to pick out the quintessence of noting how individuals react within the confines of our various societies and communal boundaries. What type of person is “Nice place, shame about the human race” aimed for? Well basically, anybody who is still interested about the values of our modern society, but specifically, when amid the interference and confusion of modern society, one is searching for personal direction into discovering oneself. Emphasis has been placed upon the significance of living ones own individuality, thus being aware of who one really is, and of the importance of taking more self-responsibility for ones actions. Here is a short list of reasons compiled for those who would possibly find my work of interest. 1. If feeling a little out-of-touch with our fast-paced modern society. 2. When interested in achieving more personal awareness in everyday activities. 3. When concerned about societies present course of development. 4. When trying to understand modern societies push and shove mentality. 5. When searching for more in-depth reasoning to our lives. 6. W

Ramseyer s Ghost Book Excerpt:

2050. The global village has disintegrated. The Third World War, ending in a stalemate, has left the planet split between two hostile powers, each with a captive sphere of influence. The Atlantic Ocean has become an American sea. West Africa is a desert of failed states and anarchy, dotted with mines and oil rigs, stockaded and armed by U. S. corporations. From their island outpost of St. Thomas, the Americans dispatch expeditions of geologists and mining engineers into the dangerous interior of the Dark Continent to search for untapped mineral resources. One such expedition has gone missing. Ekem “Crash” Ferguson, born in the U.S. in 2008 of African parents and abandoned to the care of foster parents, is a Captain in the Marine Corps. His career blocked and his marriage failing, he accepts an offer to proceed to Ghana on a one-man mission to find the missing experts. Unknown to his handlers, he has another mission. His arrival in Africa is inauspicious: in a shack amongst the coconut palms he comes across two human skeletons. This is only the first incident in what turns out to be a journey of discovery and self-discovery. “Magnificently crafted political fiction.” Andre Vltchek, author of Aurora and Exposing the Lies of the Empire.

The Great Journey Book Excerpt:

Think! In Mark 12:24 Jesus said, "Are you not therefore deceived, not being acquainted with the Scriptures nor yet the Power of God?" Be knowing, the Scriptures are the Word - the complete expression of God's Thought and contain the Power of God's Thought. The Bible on the other hand is but the letter, men's letters, men's interpretations of the Scriptures and contain not the Power of God's Word but contain only the force of men's reasoning, men's intellect. One could say that the Bible is but the survey for the Scripture Digs. The Great Journey in Pursuit of Jesus' Way, Truth & Life is my personal daily journal during the years of 1998 and 1999. Everything I write is hand written so great care was taken in transcribing my written journal into this format. By great care I mean transcribing word for word along with their misspellings and errors so that it would allow you the reader to travel with me every day. In this journal I share what I took notice of and took notes on during my journey. Some things I perceived during this journey gave me new questions to question as well as answers to questions that I have repeatedly asked myself over many years. Travel with me through my 1998-1999 journal as we embark on this Great Journey in pursuit of Jesus' Way, Truth and Life.

Weaving New Perspectives Together Book Excerpt:

The present volume seeks to offer a novel and interdisciplinary overview of the question of literary interpretation and the numerous perspectives current in the field today. Written by early-career researchers and enriched with the important contributions of three senior lecturers, the articles contained in this compilation are devised to work as a multi-faceted whole that may at the same time give inspiration to students and constitute a guide to more experienced scholars. Acting as an integrating entity that agglutinates works from scholars across Europe, the editors consider this book to be a clear example of the dynamism of present-day literary studies and of the numerous ways in which literature can speak to people. Following Margaret Atwood’s statement, “The answers you get from literature depend on the questions you pose”, this volume may be said to possess the potential to provide as many answers as it poses new questions which will stimulate future research in the field.

In the first part of the book, the authors explore cognitive, emotional, and somatic strategies that are supportive of doctors’ well-being. In the second part, they introduce theoretical knowledge and applicable skills from psychotherapy that can illuminate the complexity of the doctor-patient relationship, broaden doctors' approaches, and upgrade their communicative skills. The third part introduces some of the basic tenets of somatic psychotherapy that can deepen doctors' understanding of symptoms and illness, providing them with richer therapeutic tools and a deeper knowledge of bodily and psychological aspects, interweaving in a variety of medical conditions. This text not only provides a helping hand to both doctors and psychotherapists in designing an amalgamated approach to clinical treatment but also provides doctors with better tools for understanding and managing the intricacies of the doctor-patient relationship.

The Great Bible Dig Book Excerpt:

Some 40 years ago, I, as a searching, seeking, questioning, mortal started with studying the Bible. The Old and New Testaments. Then, just the New Testament, then just Jesus’ Sayings. I then started to dig back into the New Testament where I found just the sayings of Mary, Joseph, John the Baptist and compared their contents and volume to Just the Sayings of Jesus... What I found led me to continue digging on into the writing letters–Epistles of Paul and Peter, etc. These excavations and Scriptural expose, which some might even call controversial, have been collected into what I call The Great Bible Dig. Dig One of The Great Bible Dig uncovers some interesting questions concerning the Brain, Life and Jesus and allows the reader to ask the question WHY. Dig Two of The Great Bible Dig uncovers Words, puzzling words as well as preserving words and allows the reader to ask the question WHAT. Dig Three of The Great Bible Dig allows one to SEARCH, His Sayings and your thinkings, and will give the reader a useful alternative for changing one's thought and thinkings. Dig Four of The Great Bible Dig allows one to SEEK His Light, His Truth and His Righteousness .

Derrida after the End of Writing Book Excerpt:

What are we to make of Jacques Derrida’s famous claim that “every other is every other,” if the other could also be an object, a stone or an elementary particle? Derrida’s philosophy is relevant not just for human ethical language and animality, but to profound developments in the physical and natural sciences, as well as ecology. Derrida After the End of Writing argues for the importance of reading Derrida’s later work from a new materialist perspective. In conversation with Heidegger, Lacan, and Deleuze, and critically engaging newer philosophies of speculative realism and object-oriented ontology, Crockett claims that Derrida was never a linguistic idealist. Furthermore, something changes in his later philosophy something that cannot be simply described as a “turn.” In Catherine Malabou’s terms, there is a shift from a motor scheme of writing to a motor scheme of plasticity. Crockett explores some of the implications of interpreting Derrida through the new materialist lens of technicity or plasticity, attending to the significance of ethics, religion, and politics in his later work. By reading Derrida from a new materialist perspective, Crockett provides fresh readings of his ideas of sovereignty, religion, responsibility, and mourning. These new readings produce fruitful engagements with the thinkers who have followed Derrida, including Malabou, Timothy Morton, John D. Caputo, and Karen Barad. Here is a new reading of Derrida that moves beyond conventional understandings of poststructuralism and deconstruction, a reading that is responsive to and critical of some of the crucial developments shaping the humanities today.

Applied Theatre Research Book Excerpt:

Applied Theatre: Research is the first book to consolidate thinking about applied theatre as research through a thorough investigation of ATAR as a research methodology. It will be an indispensable resource for teachers and researchers in the area. The first section of the book details the history of the relationship between applied theatre and research, especially in the area of evaluation and impact assessment, and offering an examination of the literature surrounding applied theatre and research. The book then explores how applied theatre as research (ATAR) works as a democratic and pro-social adjunct to community based research and explains its complex relationship to arts informed inquiry, Indigenous research methods and other research epistemologies. The book provides a rationale for this approach focusing on its capacity for reciprocity within communities. The second part of the book provides a series of international case studies of effective practice which detail some of the key approaches in the method and based on work conducted in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the South Pacific. The case studies provide a range of cultural contexts for the playing out of various forms of ATAR, and a concluding chapter considers the tensions and the possibilities inherent in ATAR. This is a groundbreaking book for all researchers who are working with communities who require a method that moves beyond current research practice.
