You can pray Book Excerpt:

If you're easily distracted when praying, you're not alone. In fact, if you struggle to pray in the first place, that's not unusual either. Tim Chester tells us how we can be great pray-ers. And he admits that that's a really bold claim. 'The secret of great praying has nothing to do with human effort or skill,' he explains. 'Lots of people would like to think that it does because they want to make prayer an achievement.' But the secret of great praying is ... Knowing three things about God: +That God the Father loves to hear us pray +That God the Son makes every prayer pleasing to God +That God the Holy Spirit helps us as we pray Tim looks at: why prayer is easy (how we pray), why prayer is difficult (why we pray) and the arguments and priorities of prayer (what we pray). Prayer is a child asking her father for help. And that's not beyond any one of us.

Moment by Moment I Pray Book Excerpt:

This is part 2 of Moment by Moment, I Pray, which deals with my praying life from September 1, 2016-April 30, 2017. The story behind part 2 is the same as that of part 1, which dealt with my prayer life from February 10, 2016 and ends on August 31, 2016. I found myself alone after the funeral of my beloved wife, Annie Jewel (Chief) Banks. We had been together almost fifty years. The funeral was held on Monday, January 5, 2015, at Ben Hill UMC, located in the heart of the Ben Hill community. After a forty-plus-mile drive to our birth home of Griffin, Georgia, she was laid to rest. Three days after her funeral, I took my original manuscript from a storage area in the house that we had made our home and had raised our family and went out into the backyard and destroyed all twenty-six thousand handwritten pages. I did not see the need to continue writing or to live. But that was January 8, 2015. I looked up into the heavens and asked the Lord what he wanted me to do. I said, Lord, I have pulled myself up from a small town in the state of Georgia named Griffin, Georgia. I had completed Fairmont High School, entered Clark College (now known as Clark Atlanta University); completion date was May 1970; completed Woodrow Wilson College of Law, Georgia State University Schools of Education for my first teacher's certification to teach school and the School of Management. From 1966-1970, I completed my degree in sociology and psychology. During my senior year at Clark, I married the love of my life, Miss Annie Jewel Hosely, my high school sweetheart, also from Griffin, Georgia. We set up housekeeping in Atlanta, Georgia. But in January 1971, I was drafted into the Army and I was shipped to the Republic of South Vietnam to serve a tour of duty, as a squad leader, in a military police unit. I worked very hard and I was promoted to the rank of sergeant E5. I survived Vietnam and many other situations, but Chief's death took a toll upon the very essence of my soul. But on February 12, 2016, I started back writing, and after a talk with the Lord, on September 17, 2018, I had handwritten about three thousand pages. At this point, I asked the Lord, "Lord, what do you want me to do?" A soft but firm voice came to me, "Warren, my son, I want you to publish your story, which you have written in the form of a continued prayer." Well, looking back upon my life, the Lord has always been there for me, even when I thought my life was over. About seven days later, I was listening to my favorite gospel radio station. I heard his message, "If you are considering publishing your manuscript, call this number or go to this website." I was not quick enough to get the information down; therefore, I missed out on getting the information that I needed to make my contact. But a few days later, while I was again listening to the same radio station, that same message came again. This time, I was able to get the information that I needed and I made the contact. Within the next few minutes, I received a phone call. The person on the other end of the line said that she had been assigned from the Christian Faith Publishing Company to serve as my literary agent. I was told that she would me my guide throughout the production process. I was given information that I needed to mail my manuscript to. I mailed my manuscript off to the address that was given to me. Within a few days, I got a call from my agent indicating that my manuscript had been accepted for publication. I was really beside myself. I have been in constant prayer with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He saw so much more in me than I saw in myself. He said that he would never leave me nor forsake me, and he never has.

Pray Like Jesus Learn to Pray to God as Father Book Excerpt:

Praying like Jesus doesn't just change your prayer life; it changes your entire life. There are many books on prayer, and books on Jesus, but there is a need for a book about the prayer life of Jesus since His prayer life alone was the perfect prayer life. How did Jesus pray? Why did Jesus pray? Where did Jesus pray? These questions and more will be examined as we look at what Jesus taught about prayer, as well as what Jesus modeled in prayer. This book will be biblical, practical, and easy to read so that it is accessible to a broad audience. Many people, Christian and non-Christian alike, statistically value prayer and try to have some sort of prayer life. But most people struggle to build any momentum in their prayer lives when they fall into a rut. In Pray Like Jesus, Mark and Ashley want to help people build momentum in their prayer lives by experiencing the presence of God in an ever-deepening, life-giving, burden-relieving, and hope-lifting relationship with Jesus Christ.

Pray Fully Book Excerpt:

“I feel silly trying to make up prayers myself.” “My mind starts to wander as I am speaking to God.” “I just don’t have time to pray.” Do you recognize yourself in any of these statements? Then Pray Fully is for you. Michele Faehnle and Emily Jaminet—bestselling authors of Divine Mercy for Moms and The Friendship Project—share the rewards and frustrations of their own prayer journeys to create a practical guide that combines testimonies, tips, and journaling space to help you spend quality time with God. Whether you want to learn how to pray aloud in a group or to stop your mind from wandering during prayer, Faehnle and Jaminet have practical advice and the real-life experience to help you overcome obstacles to everyday prayer. They each found that the noisy, self-centered monologue of their youth grew into a fuller, more mature dialogue of love when they gave time to God and began to truly listen to him. In Pray Fully, Faehnle and Jaminet share basic prayer principles that have helped them to become women of prayer: make time for personal, daily communication with Jesus spend time meditating and engaging in other spiritual practices such as adoration or the Examen recognize the critical times of each day when you need a “prayer boost” live deeply in the sacraments and enrich your life with sacramentals record your intentions and thank God for answered prayer Encouraging stories and practical advice—including tips from the lives and writings of the saints—questions for personal reflection and private meditation, and journaling space will help you develop a lifelong dialogue with God. Teaching Children How to Pray eBook Book Excerpt:

Parents want the best for their children and they want to give them the best. But what is the most important gift they can give their children? A university education? A car? Or perhaps a good value system? While all of these have merit, the greatest gift parents can give their children is to teach them to develop a relationship with their heavenly Father through prayer. In TEACHING CHILDREN HOW TO PRAY Anne McFarlane masterfully addresses this very important topic – the prayer life of parents and children. She looks at the subject from various angles, considers the classic and difficult questions that the topic elicits, but also provides concrete, practical and understandable answers to the questions children often have.

This book is an account of the author's personal journey through healing and into a healing ministry. With a simple and down-to-earth style, the author demystifies the idea of healing the sick through prayer. His goal is to encourage others to use the power of prayer as a main line of defense. He explains the basic theology of healing and how to pray for yourself and others. There is also a section that discusses the times when God does not heal. Should we always expect healing? This introduction to the subject of prayer and healing balances the miraculous with the practical and draws from such well known sources a John Wimber, Francis McNutt, Smith Wigglesworth and others. Many personal stories included.
