My Heart Went Walking Book Excerpt:

The only man she’s ever loved is seeing her sister. And now they have to save her together. Sally Hanan’s sublime debut mixes the prose of Sue Monk Kidd with the dialogue of Maeve Binchy. With captivating warmth, she pulls us in to how it felt to live in Ireland’s changing culture of the ‘80s, and how it often made a woman’s decisions for her. “I can’t bear to keep walking. But you can’t keep a secret in this town unless you leave with it.” Kept apart by their love for one man, two sisters embark on their own paths towards survival, love, and understanding, until they finally meet again in the worst of circumstances. And the reality might break them all. My Heart Went Walking is a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that sweeps from the small Irish town of Donegal to the “big smoke” of Dublin City; a book that celebrates the pull of family and the chance of redemption. It is a novel for everyone who feels connected to the Irish approach to life—that of grit and laughter—and also for everyone who loves an overriding message of hope and restoration in all things.

Becoming Biliterate Book Excerpt:

Through the real-life context of one child learning to be bilingual and biliterate, this book raises questions and provides a context for pre-service and practicing teachers to understand and reflect on how children learn to read and write in multiple languages. Highlighting the social and cognitive advantages of biliteracy, its purpose is to help teachers better understand the complexity by which young children become biliterate as they actively construct meaning and work through tensions resulting from their everyday life circumstances. Perspectives regarding identity and language ideologies are presented to help teachers refine their own pedagogical approaches to teaching linguistically diverse children. Readers are engaged in understanding early biliteracy through a process of articulating and questioning their own assumptions and beliefs about learning in multiple languages and literacies.

A Lonely Pigeon Book Excerpt:

The author Reece Patrick Wood was born in South East London in the mid-sixties. Twenn Tiffrey was conceived during a bout of ‘madness’ around 2002 and was born some years later along with the birth of this book. A Long gestation period indeed. The book price reflects that which the author would pay for a similar work. If you think it’s dear then you should beg, borrow or steal a copy. That doesn’t help the author pay the bills but it’s definitely worth a read so hey, do what you must! Suffice it to say, what with giving out such advice, the author has not now retired to his non-existent Surrey farmhouse with his life partner and their two Red Setter dogs Cain and Abel (also non-existent). Furthermore Twenn Tiffrey does not hold a Doctorate in philosophy and didn’t study at Cambridge. Nor was he a member of Footlights, Mensa, the Rotary Club or the Liberal Conservative Labour Party. Further furthermore, there’s no Kindle version of this book It’s a ‘proper’ book with a front and back cover and turny turny pages that cry to be dog-eared. It’s a book that goes on a shelf, a coffee table or anywhere else you wish to stick it…. (Don’t . . . Just don’t, ok!) Look, it’s radical I know but here’s an idea. Just pull out a tenner cash and buy the bloody book. It’s got a great cover if nothing else. Lotsa love Twenn Tiffrey x
