Description : "Our Energy Future is an introductory textbook for a college course in energy production, alternative and renewable fuels, and related issues involved in building a sustainable energy future. Our society is consuming energy at an alarming rate as trends in energy consumption continue to rise. Jones and Mayfield explore the creation and history of fossil fuels, their impact on the environment, and how they have become critical to our society. They warn that continuing fuel-usage patterns could permanently damage our environment. Jones and Mayfield also outline how the adoption of sustainable biofuels will be key to our future energy stability. They discuss a number of renewable energy options, and then discuss different biofuel feedstocks and their potential as replacements for petroleum-based products. This book emphasizes the importance of continued scientific, agricultural, and engineering development, while outlining the political and environmental challenges that are coupled with a complete shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy and biomass. Our Energy Future is an excellent, accessible resource for undergraduate students studying biofuels and bioenergy."--Provided by publisher.

Description : The Refocus Marine Renewable Energy Report presents detailed market forecasts and analysis for the 2005-2009 period. Forecasts show Capex and capacity, and are split by component and country. Future markets for marine renewables cabling, foundations and turbines are also given. The modelling process looks at each renewable energy project on an individual basis, carefully assessing its viability and timescale in light of market forces such as governmental policy, financing, supply and demand of contractors etc. With this methodology DWL can accurately forecast when future expenditure and installations will occur. Included in this report * A development history of each sector of the marine energy market * The market drivers of the marine renewables industry are fully explained, from government renewables targets, through future energy supply, to climate change * The technologies of each sector are discussed, profiled, and forecasts given for their future market * Analyses of the issues impacting on the marine energy industry including supply and demand of installation vessels, the supply of steel, project financing, planning etc. * A valuable appendix of company and project profiles plus tables of every marine renewable energy project worldwide, showing key details These forecasts are unique in their level of detail and accuracy. DWL manage the World Offshore Wind Database, and World Wave & Tidal Database, extensive project databases with up to 60 fields of data on each wind, wave and tidal project in operation and planning worldwide. These data sources have been in place for four years and are constantly updated giving an up to date industry view. By only using this data for identified projects, the subsequent market forecasts are grounded in reality. * Forecasts future activity in the marine renewables sectors of offshore wind, wave and tidal energy * Written by leading energy industry analysts, Douglas-Westwood Ltd (DWL) * The models used in forecasting use realistic costing, based on actual project costs

Description : The US Department of Energy's Office of Industrial Technologies (OIT) conducts R D activities which focus on the objectives of improving energy efficiency and providing for fuel flexibility within US industry in the area of industrial energy conservation. The Office also conducts programs to reduce waste generation, increase recycling efforts, and improve the use of wastes as process feedstocks. An active program of technology transfer and education supports these activities and encourages adoption of new technologies. To accomplish these objectives OIT cooperates with the private sector to identify its technological needs and to share R D efforts. R D is conducted to the point that a new technology is shown to work and that it can be transferred to the private sector end-users. This bibliography contains information on all scientific and technical reports sponsored by the DOE Industrial Energy Conservation Program during the years 1988--1990.
