Description : The European economic crisis has been ongoing since 2008 and while austerity has spread over the continent, it has failed to revive economies. The media have played an important ideological role in presenting the policies of economic and political elites in a favourable light, even if the latter’s aim has been to shift the burden of adjustment onto citizens. This book explains how and why, using a critical political economic perspective and focusing on the case of Ireland. Throughout, Ireland is compared with contemporary and historical examples to contextualise the arguments made. The book covers the housing bubble that led to the crash, the rescue of financial institutions by the state, the role of the European institutions and the International Monetary Fund, austerity, and the possibility of leaving the eurozone for Europe’s peripheral countries. Through a systematic analysis of Ireland’s main newspapers, it is argued that the media reflect elite views and interests and downplay alternative policies that could lead to more progressive responses to the crisis.

Description : Believing that life always gives us all a second chance is too bookish a thought. Because sometimes, by the time we finally realize our faults and true potential, times have changed dramatically. Like a couple of migratory birds, both Charlie and Edwin leave everything back in their village and settle for a new life in the big city. For Edwin, it was where he was going to chase his dreams of becoming an actor; but for Charlie, it was just another place to be with his only friend, to help him accomplish his dreams. However, life seemed to have different plans as it throws Charlie in Aster's way, who was silently walking through instabilities of her own destiny. He could never have guessed, but he was in for an absolute unthoughtful phase of profoundness, which was going to last forever. Promise me a Million Times is a story of dreams, friendship, struggles and a will to make up for every loss with love by your side.

Description : This trip to Paris is Ford’s last chance to propose, or Charley going to cut her losses and move on. Texan mud hen Charley Parkhurst has been dating moneyed, gorgeous Ford Dalio for five wonderful years, but everyone is getting antsy because he hasn’t proposed. She has been getting pressure from every direction. Her friends are about to stage an intervention. Charley loves Ford and wants to marry him, but he has never committed to anything beyond the next few months with her. When Ford whisks Charley away for a weekend in Paris to crash a royal wedding, just like when they used to sneak backstage at rock concerts in college, will Paris be the perfect place for Ford to finally propose, or will Charley dump him and move on with her life? This is a stand-alone short story with a happy ending. The characters are connected to Blair Babylon’s bestselling Billionaires in Disguise: Rae series, but you don’t need to have read it to enjoy this story. But if you would like to, the first episode is free! From the author: I wrote this just after I had gotten home from Paris, when I was in love with the whole city. Paris is the city of light and love, and that’s how I think of it.
