Leaving Church and Finding God Book Excerpt:

The thief (Satan) comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I (Jesus) have come that they (followers of Jesus) may have life, and have it to the full (in abundance, fullness). (John 10:10) How can we experience this fullness Jesus spoke about in this life? How can we successfully and permanently prevent or combat this robbery, murder, and destruction by the enemy? How can injured, hopeless and disappointed people find salvation and freedom? The author chose to answer these and other important questions by writing an exciting non-fiction novel rather than a study guide. On the natural level, you will see how our main character, Romana Meier, discovers subconscious religious yokes and false teachings. With the help of God and her new friends, she is set free to experience a powerful, fulfilled life of freedom in Jesus Christ. The book sheds light on why there are so many problems in today's churches and congregations, and what distinguishes these organizations from the original early Christian community of believers. You will also find out how this relates to the flight of wild geese. On the supernatural level, two high-ranking representatives of the satanic realm meet on the way to the Success Conference of their Great Leader of Darkness. Coming from their assigned territorial earthly realm, they exchange ideas and boast about their achievements. Everything seems to go according to plan until they meet an invincible opponent.

Why Our Teenagers Leave the Church Book Excerpt:

Between 40 and 50 per cent of Adventist youth leave the church in their 20s. Why? How can we keep them? How can we win them back? This book is the culmination of a magnificent obsession. For more than ten years Roger Dudley traced the lives of 1500 teenagers as they grew up and, often, grew disillusioned. Refusing to let them leave in peace, Dudley bombarded them with questionnaires. Many of them answered. This is their story. Dudley puts faces on the statistics by focusing in on individual case studies. He cites the heart-wrenching testimony of desperately lonely people surrounded by uncaring members. They want to belong, to be needed, to be heard, to be loved. They made some mistakes. We share their pain and their dreams, and feel the dissonant cadences of their troubled hearts. Some who never left explain what kept them in the church. Many who left want to return. "Without God, life is hell," wrote one. If you want to know what the youth of your church are not telling you, read this book. It includes the responses of a group of kids who were asked to design the ideal church, and an appendix explaining the causes of "adolescent heresy," the conflict spawned by the teenage struggle for autonomy.

Why Jesus Commands His People to Leave the Christian Church Book Excerpt:

Revelation 18:4 (NKJV), “And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.” Is Jesus really calling people to get out of the Christian Church lest they share in her sins? Yes he is, and while this verse refers to Babylon the Great, I will show you that Babylon the Great is clearly what we would call the Christian Church. So, yes, Jesus is calling his people to come out of the Christian Church. Jesus is the one speaking here in this verse, but we need to remember that he is YHVH God’s anointed Prophet who is speaking YHVH’s words with YHVH’s Divine authority. Why would YHVH God have Jesus say such a thing? That’s what I will explain and share in this book. Once you understand why Jesus said that, you will find yourself at a fork in the road and will have to make a decision as to which of two ways to go. One way will be a narrow road and the other way is a broad road, you have to choose. Proverbs 14:15, “The simple believes every word, but the prudent considers well his steps.” We cannot automatically believe every word our priests and pastors tell us – but we can believe every word Jesus spoke, for he is to be our only teacher (Matthew 23:10) and his words are truth (John 17:17) and the plumb line to test all others. We must examine all we read and hear and then compare it to Jesus’ words, and if it is not compatible we need to leave, and that’s what I did. Where will I go from here? That I will share later in this book. So, fasten your seat belt, and hang on, and get ready for ride of your life. This book will take you places you have never been and you will hear thing you never heard. We are about to run over some long held lies, manmade traditions and false beliefs, and it could be a bumpy road.

Tarika is tired of the celibate life and she is tired of the struggle of being a single parent. She thinks sheÕs willing to risk her morals, but isnÕt sure if the risk is worth it. A former cop, he’s seen it all...or so he thought. Clues point him in the direction of Nora Sutherlin, an erotic romance writer who moonlights as a dominatrix. Together, they form an unlikely bond built on their shared need for justice. As Cyrus is drawn deeper into Nora’s underground world of pleasure and pain, what lines will he cross to discover the truth about the priest? And what will he and Nora do with the truth once they find it? The Priest is the beginning of a new era for Reisz’s Original Sinners series, and the perfect jumping-on point for new readers.

Political Theology A Guide for the Perplexed Book Excerpt:

There is an increasingly intense interest in political theology amongst contemporary scholars and students. Yet, while there are many authors engaging in political theology, there are very few resources about political theology which aim to orient students and other recent new-comers to the field. This is a concise and accessible advanced introduction which distinguishes various approaches to political theology, and which explores several of the central issues addressed in political theologies. Theological students will be able to approach courses and readings in political theology with a renewed confidence with this overview in hand.
