Description : Daniel has long been viewed as a prophetic book of the Bible, but there is more to this book than prophecy. Daniel is a manof character. He is steadfast in his faith and devotion to the Lord as well as his three companions, Hananiah, Mishael, andAzariah. They do not compromise their faith for any reason in a place where their God is not worshiped. They are alsoinvolved in the political arena. If God wrote a book on politics, then this is the book. Daniel is in the court of Babylonand holds a high office. He has been placed there by the providence of God to influence a self-centered, narcissistic king, Nebuchadnezzar. As will be seen God will deal with Nebuchadnezzar to humble him and make him realize that God isthe one who raises up leaders and the One that brings them down. Daniel is a book that all leaders should read becauseDaniel is an example of the type of leader they should emulate. This book gives God's plan for the world and Israel as He gives dreams and visions of the future to Nebuchadnezzar andDaniel. God shows us He will do as He said, because in chapter 11 He pre-writes history. The material here is a summation of my notes from my study and teaching of Daniel in adult Sunday School classes. It is intended to stimulate the reader to study the book for himself and allow God to deepen his walk with Him. It is designedfor your personal study and for group study and discussion.

Description : Presented here, in paperback for the first time, is John Peter Lange's Theologischhomiletisches Bibelwerk. Intended to help preachers prepare sermons the commentary series is essentially biblical and evangelical catholic. This 19th century commentary has served as a standard reference for more than a century. Many early reviewers regarded Schaff's edition with his additional material as superior to the original. It has proven to be a complete and useful Commentary and continues to prove especially valuable to ministers. It contains critical annotations of the text and its translation, and a threefold commentary, exegetical, doctrinal, and homiletical. Under these three heads the text is viewed from every aspect.

Description : The Book of Daniel occupies a unique position in the scriptural canon because of its complex form and the symbolism of its subject matter. The contemporary resurgence of interest in apocalyptic literature has created the need for a new commentary which takes into account the most recent developments in the study of Daniel. Professor Lacocque's book, which combines knowledge of current critical writing about Daniel with original exegesis of the text, is essential reading for students of the Book and of apocalyptic in general. The actual commentary on the Hebrew and Aramaic text is introduced by a discussion of the major problems confronting the reader: the name of Daniel, the apocalyptic genre, the chronology of the Book and its literary composition, the milieu in which apocalyptic was formed, the place of Daniel in the scriptural canon, the use of both Hebrew and Aramaic, the complex plan of the Book, and a chronological table of the events against which the drama of Daniel was supposedly played out, The commentary on the Book of Daniel is printed with Andre Lacocque's English translation of the biblical text and a verse-by-verse exegesis of the Hebrew and Aramaic originals. There is a final section reflecting on the significance of the Book of Daniel for the modern age.

Description : 'Book of Daniel' An Annotated Bibliography, This volume is one of a series of bibliographies on the books of the Bible. This is the first volume of the series of bibliographies described in the series introduction, in this case on the Book of Daniel in the Old Testament (OT) or the Hebrew Scriptures fTanakh).Scholars for these bibliographies have been drawn from across the Judeo-Christian perspective as well as across doctrinal perspectives. These bibliographies should be of value to students and faculty, to laity and professional, to religious and academic groups, for undergraduate and graduate study. They should serve a significant role as reference works in libraries for the public, the university, and religious groups, as well as individuals.
