Description : The book of Romans has rightly been called "the Constitution of Christianity." In this one letter are recorded the doctrines of justification, sanctification, divine condemnation, divine election, the perseverance of the saints, total depravity, the last judgment, the fall of man, the revelation of God in nature, and so much more. In his commentary, Dr. Kroll indicates that the letter to the church in Rome was Paul's way of depositing a handbook of Christian doctrine into the capital of the Roman Empire.

Description : Romans Bible Commentary: This Bible commentary on the book of Romans offers a verse-by-verse study on the entire book. Since this commentary material was assembled by classes taught on the book of Romans, it is easy to use and understand. This Romans commentary has been widely received by many, including schools which help train preachers. Here is a small sample of the text. 5:9: Much more then, being now justified by his blood, shall we be saved from the wrath (of God) through him. This verse takes us back to what Paul said at the beginning of this chapter: God’s people can be “justified” (dikaio), the same word used in Rom. 3:20! It is possible to completely remove sin. This can be done even though we still sin after becoming a Christian. Also, we can have justification at the present time (“now”). In this verse, Paul affirmed that our source for justification is Christ’s “blood.” Without the blood of Jesus, justification would be impossible (Heb. 10:4). Christ’s blood is the basis for our justification, but the benefits of it must be accessed. This access comes by faith that is obedient (5:1). If Christ had not shed his blood, the only thing that we could and would experience is “wrath” (verse 9b). However, since the precious blood of the Lord was shed, Christians can be and will be saved from punishment. Christians are people who are at peace with God (verse 1) and have no fear of condemnation (8:1).

Description : Most Christians are able to present the Romans Road, but how many are intimately familiar with the entire book? Books are written with a message which is to be sought out and applied. If prayerfully studied, the book of Romans will prove to be sufficient for equipping God's child with biblical theology. My desire is to see people edified by the message of Romans just as God has used it to change my life. This exposition may aid teachers, leaders, missionaries or pastors who wish to go through Romans in an expository fashion. Study Questions are included at the back of the book. In writing this commentary, I have tried to be as loyal as possible to the text; therefore, the Greek Textus Receptus is the basis for this work. The accuracy and integrity of the King James translation is unparalleled, and it is the only English translation which has been used apart from my own rendering of the Greek New Testament. Topics include: Christian Liberty, Spiritual Baptism, the Christian and Government

Description : Invites Readers of Romans to Expand Their View of God and the Gospel When reading the book of Romans, we often focus on the quotable passages, making brief stopovers and not staying long enough to grasp some of the big ideas it contains. Instead of raiding Paul's most famous letter for a passage here or a theme there, leading New Testament scholar Beverly Roberts Gaventa invites us to linger in Romans. She asks that we stay with the letter long enough to see how Romans reframes our tidy categories and dramatically enlarges our sense of the gospel. Containing profound insights written in accessible prose and illuminating references to contemporary culture, this engaging book explores the cosmic dimensions of the gospel that we read about in Paul's letter. Gaventa focuses on four key issues in Romans--salvation, identity, ethics, and community--that are crucial both for the first century and for our own. As she helps us navigate the book of Romans, she shows that the gospel is far larger, wilder, and more unsettling than we generally imagine it to be.

Description : Since the days of the Early Church, Christians have struggled to find a way to be 'good'-to please God by their own efforts. They end up carrying a burden God never intended them to bear. And what's more, their brand of Christianity ends up looking like any other religion of the world-bound by joyless rules and rituals. Fritz Ridenour's study of the book of Romans provides an antidote to the pharisaical spirit and shows that Christianity is not a religion but a relationship. It is not man reaching up, but God reaching down. Every Christian can enjoy his or her birthright when they realize who they are in Christ. The result is a life full of hope, joy, power and potential.
