Description : In this issue of The Ministry, we continue the line of fellowship on the present practice and practical outworking of the building up of the church. We include a message spoken by Brother Lee to the serving ones in the church in Taipei in 1960 on the building up and the need for consecration for the building. All the work in the New Testament is for the building up of the church as God’s habitation, and the practical building requires that we offer ourselves up in consecration to God. This consecration is twofold: According to Romans 6, it is the presenting of our specific members to live a life of sanctification and righteousness in Christ, and according to Romans 12, it is the presenting of our whole being to be the material for God’s building. The following six messages are from the first half of the Living Stream Ministry’s Summer Training of 1997, entitled The Crucial Contents of God’s New Testament Ministry. On June 9, 1997 our Brother Lee rested from his labors and went to be with the Lord. This training, which followed immediately after our brother’s departure, was a thorough review of the contents of the New Testament ministry, which he brought to us over many years. In 2 Timothy 3:14 Paul says, “But you, continue in the things which you have learned and have been assured of, knowing from which ones you have learned them.” The messages in this series are a tribute to and a reminder of the ones through whom we learned the things of God’s New Testament ministry. In this training the local churches raised up under this ministry resolved anew to continue in these things. Lastly, we report on the Lord’s move in His ministry on the earth. Letters from Berlin, Germany and Warsaw, Poland testify of the opened door in Europe through the blending of the churches and the publications of the ministry.

Description : In this issue of The Ministry, we continue the series of messages on the present practice in God’s economy. These messages, given at a crucial time in the Lord’s recovery, unveil the practice of the new way which the Lord gave to the churches through Brother Lee’s ministry and practical leading. In the message which we include here, Brother Lee emphasizes our need to carry out the begetting, nourishing, and teaching in the meetings in the believers’ homes. To carry out the new way, we must no longer build up the big meetings of the church, which have the clergy-laity system as their root. This truly involves a spiritual warfare, so we must struggle every step of the way, especially in prayer, to participate in the fighting service in God’s economy. The subsequent six messages are from the second half of the Living Stream Ministry’s Summer Training of 1997, entitled The Crucial Contents of God’s New Testament Ministry. This training, which followed immediately after our brother’s departure, was a thorough review of the contents of the New Testament ministry, which he brought to us over many years. On the occasion of Brother Lee’s departure, we can consider all that the Lord has unveiled to us, all the truths which were recovered for us through our brother’s faithful ministry, to bring us into the Lord’s recovery and into the experience of Christ and the reality of the Body of Christ for God’s eternal economy to consummate the New Jerusalem. The local churches raised up under this ministry will speak these things, teach these things, write these things, and live these things until we meet the Lord. Last, we include an encouraging report on the spread of the ministry through the marketing of our publications in Christian bookstores. We also report on the work to produce the Recovery Version of the New Testament in the Russian language, which is now in its fifth and final year. A letter from the co-workers in the former Soviet Union brings us up to date on the Lord’s move there in the first training for the responsible brothers and the recent winter training held in Moscow, and letters from Berlin, Germany report on the progress in publishing and distributing books by Watchman Nee in the German language.

Description : This issue of The Ministry of the Word contains the first eight messages given during the fall 2017 term of the full-time training in Anaheim, California. The general subject of this series of messages is "The Crucial Revelation of Life in the Scriptures." The central thought of God in this universe and in eternity is to have Christ as His expression through the church with the shining in life. God's expression is based on life and light, and the light is the shining in life. In order for God to have an expression of Himself in Christ through the church, the divine life that expresses Him must be embodied and expressed in Christ and then dispensed into, worked into, and expressed through the church. Only the life of God can express God. Based on this principle, we will see the crucial revelation of life throughout the Scriptures. Genesis 1 and 2 are not merely a record of creation; actually, nearly every item recorded in these two chapters is a revelation of Christ who is life to God's people for the producing and building up of the church. According to Genesis 1, God created many forms of life, beginning with the lowest form and progressing to the highest form of created life, that is, man, whom God created in His image. The purpose of the creation of man with God's image is that this man would express God. However, the created man had only a human life. Any form of created life can only express itself; it cannot express another kind of life. This means that man is unable to express God if he has only his created human life. In order for man to express God and fulfill His purpose, man must obtain and receive the life of God as his life. God has to enter into man to be life to man. Genesis 2 reveals that the bride of Christ--typified by the woman built from the rib taken from the man--is produced and comes into being by life. The real Eve, the church, the counterpart of Christ, which will consummate in the New Jerusalem, is built with the resurrection life that was released by the Lord through His death and imparted through His resurrection. This counterpart of the Lord is a building of life. For God to gain His corporate expression through the church, He must dispense and work Himself into us, His people, His believers. This is accomplished through our eating and drinking Him. We need to pass through three stages of the enjoyment of Christ by eating Him. The first stage is the eating of Christ as the Passover lamb in Egypt, the second stage is the eating of Christ as the manna in the wilderness, and the third stage is the eating of Christ as the rich produce of the good land. By our eating in the first two stages, we are energized to leave the world and are constituted with Christ as the heavenly element. Only in the third stage of the enjoyment of Christ as our food can we fulfill God's purpose. It was not until the children of Israel entered into the good land and enjoyed the produce of the land that they were able to defeat all the enemies, build up God's dwelling place on the earth, and bring in the kingdom of God. Likewise, for us to reach the goal of God's economy, we need to progress until we enter into the highest stage of eating Christ as the all-inclusive Spirit, as typified by the rich produce of the good land. In this stage we overcome the spiritual enemies, we are built up to be God's dwelling place, and we establish God's kingdom on earth. The history of God's people is not only one of eating but also one of drinking. In the Old Testament, before coming into the good land and building the house of God, the children of Israel journeyed through the wilderness. During that journey they came to Marah, a place of bitter waters. Moses followed God's command to cast a tree into the bitter waters; the waters then became sweet. This tree signifies the tree of life, the crucified and resurrected Christ, who today is the Spirit mingled with our spirit. In our spirit we have the crucified and resurrected Christ as our Healer. He is the One who transforms our bitter circumstances and makes them sweet, and He also heals all our diseases. Before the building of the house of God, the Bible speaks of the springs of water (Exo. 15:22-27), the water out of the cleft rock (17:6), and the water from the well (Num. 21:16-17). Christ as the living, spiritual rock was smitten by the authority of God's law so that the water of life in resurrection could flow out of Him and into His redeemed people for them to drink. After God's people built the house of God in the good land, the Bible speaks of the river of God's pleasures (Psa. 36:8b), the river whose streams gladden the city of God (46:4), a fountain going forth from the house of Jehovah (Joel 3:18), and living waters going forth from Jerusalem (Zech. 14:8). We need to experience the flowing of the living water out of the house of God (Ezek. 47:1-5). In order to be in the flow, we have to be in the building; that is, we need to be in the church. In the New Testament we can see the crucial revelation of life in the book of Matthew. In the decree of the kingdom's constitution given by the Lord in chapters 5--7, He displayed the two possible ways people may live and work before God (7:13-14, 21-27). The broad way that leads to destruction is according to the worldly systems satisfying the natural tastes, to get the crowd, to maintain a career of man, and to achieve man's enterprise. The constricted way is according to the divine regulations. This way, which leads to life, fulfills the spiritual requests, brings in God's elect, bears the testimony of Jesus Christ, and carries out God's economy for the building up of the Body of Christ. We take this way by walking in the spirit; this will restrict us and cause us to live a normal Christian life. We will thereby become vital, healthy believers who take the way of life for God's building. There are three basic elements in Matthew. First, Christ is the King as the kingdom bringing in the reality of the kingdom. Second, He is the King in His all-inclusiveness. Third, He is the kingly bread. When we partake of this kingly bread, we eat, digest, and assimilate the King and the kingdom with its reality, and we eat and digest the King in His all-inclusiveness. The ruling element is in the food. When we take in this food, we gradually become the reality of the kingdom of the heavens. The Announcements section at the end of this issue contains a list of upcoming conferences and trainings hosted by Living Stream Ministry and a website link for information related to similar events in Europe.

Description : "The Bible has its kernel, its life, its center, which is constituted with the church, Christ, the Spirit, and life. These four items are the contents of the true substance of the Bible. The revelation of the Bible, particularly the New Testament, stresses these four matters: the church, Christ, the Spirit, and life. If we remove these four items from the New Testament, all that remains would merely be dead letters. These four crucial elements are also the four important items in the Lord’s recovery today. Hence, we must all have a deep impression, a fresh light, and a renewed understanding concerning these four crucial elements."

Description : This issue of The Ministry contains a complete record of the twelve messages given during the 2004 winter training on the Crystallization-study of 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus, held December 20-25 in Anaheim, California. The crucial truth and burden embodied in these twelve messages may be summarized in four statements: (1) God's economy--His household administration--is to produce and constitute the Body of Christ by dispensing Himself into our being to make us the same as He is in life and nature but not in the Godhead. (2) The church of God is the house of the living God, the pillar and base of the truth, and the great mystery of godliness--God manifested in the flesh. (3) We must be inoculators, those who inoculate others against the decline of the church, by exercising our spirit and remaining in the healthy teaching of God's economy. (4) We must be inoculators, those who inoculate others against the decline of the church, by being a man of God with the breath of God. These messages are being published immediately following the training in order that they might benefit the saints participating in the many video trainings that are held throughout the earth. Because of the particular nature and length of this issue, the usual section of reports concerning the Lord's move throughout the earth has been omitted. We have, however, included a calendar, giving the dates and locations of the seven Living Stream Ministry conferences and trainings--the seven annual feasts--for 2005. One cannot measure the benefits derived during these feasts from the Lord's rich speaking in His ministry and the mutual blending and building up of the saints and the churches in the Lord's recovery from every continent.

Description : In this issue of The Ministry, Brother Lee gives a summary of the fellowship concerning the practice of the new way under the Lord’s new leading from October 1984 to May 1986. At that time the Lord gave us a fresh leading in order to bring in an increase in number in all the localities and to spread His work over the whole earth. The Lord’s leading aims at a total deliverance of His recovery from the element, essence, background, environment, and tradition of Christianity. The first crucial element of the new way is the building up of the meetings in every believer’s home. Delivering the gospel, the truth, and the meetings to people’s homes is the best way to build the church locally in the Lord’s recovery and to bring in the spread and increase universally. The other two crucial elements of the new way are the teaching of the truth and keeping the Lord’s word as the center of all our various meetings. The next three messages are a continuation of the Crystallization-study of the Epistle to the Hebrews given in the winter training of 1998. Message Nineteen shows clearly that the will of God is to have Christ as the replacement for all the offerings in the Old Testament so that we may enjoy Him as everything in living and practicing the Body life for the building up of the Body of Christ as the organism of the Triune God. Message Twenty reveals that Jesus is the Author of faith, the Originator, the Inaugurator, the source, and the cause of faith. The faith of the believers is actually not their own faith but Christ entering into them to be their faith. Our believing is our appreciation of Christ as a reaction to His attraction. Message Twenty-one shows us that faith is the unique way to enjoy Christ in His heavenly ministry and to experience all the bequests in the new testament. It is the unique way to carry out God’s New Testament economy. In the last section, we include two letters from Poland and Mexico, respectively, concerning the Lord’s move in these two countries.

Description : In this issue we will continue the four lines of ministry that began in the first issue of Ministry Digest (vol. 1, no. 1). The first line--The History of the Lord's Recovery--contains the final chapter of The World Situation and the Direction of the Lord's Move, which is in volume 1 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1991–1992. This chapter speaks of the way to spread the Lord's recovery in Europe. This line then continues with a new book that presents an important development in the history of the practices in the Lord's recovery--the practice of meeting according to vital groups. This issue includes chapters 1 through 3 of The Vital Groups, which are in volume 5 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1994–1997. These chapters speak of the purpose and the constituents of the vital groups. The second line--Words for New Believers--continues with chapters 11 through 14 of Basic Lessons on Life, which are in volume 1 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1979. These chapters speak of the sense of life, the function of the Triune God to dispense His divine life into the three parts of man, and the sense of the Spirit and knowing the Spirit, all of which are central to the growth of a new believer. The third line--Maturing in Life--continues with chapters 9 through 12 of Knowing Life and the Church, which are in volume 1 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1953. These chapters speak of the mingling of God and man as the proper basis for the church; the types of the tabernacle, altar, and Ark in the church; the building up of the church as the Body of Christ; and the proper way to follow the Bible and the inner life. The fourth line--The High Peak of the Divine Revelation--continues with chapters 13 through 16 of The God-man Living, which are in volume 3 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1994–1997. These chapters continue to speak of the living of Christ, the first God-man, as a man of prayer.

Description : This issue of The Ministry contains the fourth of a series of messages which Brother Lee spoke concerning migration in Los Angeles in 1969. This message focuses on the testimony of God. According to the context of the entire Bible, the testimony of God is God Himself in Christ and the church. As the New Testament people of God, we must be the corporate witness, bearing this unique testimony. This requires that we know and practice the church life in its proper generality, which is the all-inclusive testimony of God and the full recovery of the Lord. For the church to take another way brings in confusion and division, and it causes us to lose God’s testimony. Therefore, the purpose of our migrations is to spread the church life as the completion of the Lord’s recovery, not the recovery only of certain items, but the recovery in totality. Following this are the messages from the Memorial Day Weekend Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. The subject of this conference was “The Move of God in His Recovery as Portrayed in Ezekiel.” In these messages we see the high, awesome, and profoundly mysterious “visions of God” (Ezek. 1:1), showing us the intrinsic depths of God’s heart’s desire, His plan, His eternal economy, and His move to carry out His eternal economy. At the same time, we see many applications of the visions for the Lord’s current move in migration to raise up new churches. We also include a report on the open house and meeting of thanksgiving, praise, and consecration at the campus for the spread of the work of God’s New Testament ministry in the Lord’s recovery. This glorious and memorable inauguration of the new facility included an open house in three of the buildings on the campus, a love feast, a review of crucial points of the ministry of Brother Lee, and a solemn time of prayer. Following this is a report on the publication of the ministry in the Czech Republic with some encouraging responses from readers of The Stream magazine, a report on the radio broadcast of the ministry in the Spanish language, and a report on the ten-day training in Ardzini, Armenia.

Description : This issue of The Ministry contains a complete record of the six messages given in the 2004 Thanksgiving Conference held in San Francisco, California, November 25-28, 2004. The subject of the conference was the intrinsic need in the Lord's recovery--purification, education, reconstitution, separation, protection, and expression. The burden of these messages can be summarized by the following four statements: 1) in the Lord's recovery, we need to be purified of every kind of mixture in order to become pure in heart, in conscience, and in spirit; 2) God's intention is to reconstitute us with Himself so that we may become His corporate expression, the Body of Christ, consummating in the New Jerusalem; 3) by living in our spirit and eating Christ as the hidden manna, we can overcome the world to become God's building; and 4) today in His recovery the Lord is working to restore the normal condition of Christ within the proper church as His expression. We also include a report concerning the Lord's move in Poland.

Description : If you long to reach kids and see their lives changed by God, this comprehensive guide shows you how. Purpose Driven® Youth Ministry will do for youth ministry what Rick Warren's Gold Medallion award-winning, The Purpose Driven® Church is doing for pastoral ministry. It's an indispensable guide to creating and maintaining youth ministry for the long run. It will help you create a solid spiritual team that builds the foundations of the Christian faith into the hearts and lives of young people. Forged around the fundamental purposes of evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, ministry, and worship, Purpose Driven® Youth Ministry uses the experiences of Saddleback Church to illustrate what a healthy Youth ministry can be. Nine transferable principles help you - Connect with the power of God for passionate, committed leadership - Define the purpose of your ministry and communicate it effectively - Identify your potential audience - Create programs that reach your audience and fulfill God's purposes - Implement processes that move students to maturity - Enhance your ministry with clearly defined values - Team up with parents to involve the whole family - Find volunteers and develop them into participating leaders - Persevere through tough times and thrive in an ever-changing environment. Balancing both theory and practice, Purpose Driven® Youth Ministry can be applied to any church setting, regardless of size, denomination, facilities, resources, and existing leadership. Purpose-Driven Youth Ministry will help you develop a ministry that equips students rather than a ministry that coordinates events. Doug Fields says, "My goal for this book is to coach you through a plan to build a healthy youth ministry that isn't dependent on one great youth leader and won't be destroyed when the youth worker leaves the church. It's not a book on how to grow your youth ministry with six easy steps; it's about identifying, establishing, and building health into your church's youth ministry.

Description : In this issue of The Ministry, Brother Lee speaks about some of the practical steps in implementing the new way, particularly in relation to the gospelization of Taiwan. This is an unprecedented task and a glorious enterprise. For a purpose like this, there is the need of a schedule and a plan. As long as we are human beings, we need schedules and budgets. In the Gospels and Acts, we find that both the Lord and the disciples worked with plans and arrangements. In His move on the earth, the Lord had not only a schedule but also an itinerary, according to which He carried out His New Testament service and fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies. Our plan is to visit the communities and campuses and build up the home meetings through prayer, the full-time service of one out of twenty saints, and the financial support from the remaining nineteen. The next three messages conclude the Crystallization-study of the Epistle to the Hebrews given in the winter training of 1998. Message Twenty-two focuses on the crystals concerning the church in the book of Hebrews, which include the church as the living composition of the many sons of God, a corporate partnership with Christ, the house of God, the Sabbath rest, the new covenant and the heavenly New Jerusalem, the unshakable kingdom, and God’s flock. Message Twenty-three stresses the crucial matter of the Christian life being a race; we must run this race to receive the prize, the incorruptible crown, which the Lord will award to His overcoming saints who win the race. Message Twenty-four shows us that the goal and ultimate conclusion of the book of Hebrews is that we would enter within the veil and go outside the camp. The more we are in our spirit, enjoying the heavenly Christ, the more we will come outside the camp of religion, following the suffering Jesus. In the last section, we include a report from Armenia and Slovakia.

Description : In this issue we will continue the four lines of ministry that began in the first issue of Ministry Digest (vol. 1, no. 1). The first line--The History of the Lord's Recovery--continues with the final chapter of The World Situation and God's Move, which is in volume 1 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1981. This chapter speaks of our ultimate responsibility to bear the testimony of Jesus in the midst of the current world situation. This line then continues with chapters 1 through 3 of The World Situation and the Direction of the Lord's Move, which are in volume 1 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1991–1992. These chapters speak of recent changes in the world situation, the need for the spreading of the divine truths for the Lord's recovery, and our responsibility to participate in this spread to the crucial parts of the world, particularly Europe. The second line--Words for New Believers--continues with chapters 7 through 10 of Basic Lessons on Life, which are in volume 1 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1979. These chapters provide a definition of life and then continue to speak of regeneration, the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Spirit, and the fellowship of life. The third line--Maturing in Life--continues with chapters 5 through 8 of Knowing Life and the Church, which are in volume 1 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1953. These chapters speak of the pathway of life, the way and life of the cross, knowing and experiencing the discipline of the Holy Spirit, and knowing the church and the basis for discerning the church. The fourth line--The High Peak of the Divine Revelation--continues with chapters 9 through 12 of The God-man Living, which are in volume 3 of The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1994–1997. These chapters speak of the living of Christ, the first God-man, as a man of prayer.

Description : In this issue of The Ministry, we continue the series of messages concerning the God-ordained way as the present practice in God’s economy. In this message, Brother Lee provides some of the details concerning the practice of the home meetings and small group meetings. In laboring to care for the home meetings, we must learn to minister God’s word at every opportune time, giving “injections” to fight the adverse environments and to supply nutrition in order for the saints to grow. When we labor diligently with perseverance to speak the Lord’s word and care for the meetings in the homes, His Spirit will follow our labor and our words with His work, and there will surely be positive results. The next three messages are a continuation of messages given in the full-time training in Anaheim in the fall of 1997 concerning the grafted life. Message Four presents how God created man in such a way that he would be similar to Him in life so that based upon this similarity he could become intrinsically one with Him. Message Five stresses the fact that God’s judicial redemption is the glorious procedure by which and through which we were grafted into Christ through believing into Him. Message Six gives a further word concerning the matter of God’s judicial redemption for our experience of God’s organic salvation in the grafted life. In the following section we include a portion of the memorial meeting for our beloved Brother Howard Higashi, who was unexpectedly taken away to be with the Lord on November 27, 1998. A message is also included which was given by Brother Howard in the full-time training in Anaheim concerning the gospel, in which he shares his own testimony of receiving the Lord. Our dear Brother Howard was a faithful worker, a steadfast pursuer, and a fervent lover of Christ from the beginning of his salvation in the Lord’s recovery thirty years ago until his going to be with the Lord. He is one of the Lord’s overcomers in this present age. Last of all, we include reports concerning the Lord’s move in Europe and in the southern Philippines.
