Description : Excerpt from The Educational Review, 1899, Vol. 17: A Magazine of the Science and Art of Education and Review of Current Educational Literature and Events By no means the least significant feature of the present controversy is the claim of the Elementary Teachers, as repre sented by the National Union of Teachers, to bring their experience to the help of secondary organisers. The class feeling, which unfortunately leavens the atmosphere of public-school education, will perhaps put a difi'erent interpretation from that intended upon the motives which underlie this claim. But, while the attitude of the National Union of Teachers is not always calculated to conciliate public-school prejudice, and their claims are often somewhat highly coloured, there can be no doubt that secondary education has much to learn from the methods and experience of the Board Schools. We hope, therefore, that some generally satisfactory way may be discovered for utilising in the near future the lessons of organisation learnt in establishing public elementary education. Only a fool blunders twice over the same stumbling blocks. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Description : Excerpt from The Educational Review: Devoted to Advanced Methods of Education and General Culture; June, 1895 Mr. Ganong is one of St. Stephen's brightest, most enterprising and prosperous business men. He taught school for a short time, and has for some time been a very efficient member of a progressive school board, under whose management the schools of St. Stephen have reached their present degree of excellence. Having been so long in touch with our public school system, Mr. Ganong has had opportunity to observe the strug gles of many bright and deserving pupils to complete an education begun promisingly, but interrupted through lack of means, and it is known to a few that this is not the first occasion on which he has reached out a helping hand, but always as unobtrusively as his present gift has been made. Description : Excerpt from The Educational Review: Devoted to Advanced Methods of Education and General Culture; June, 1893-May, 1895 Uran US is evening star - near Lambda Virginis on the east side, between Lambda and Alpha Librae. There is nothing as bright as it along the line between these two stars. He will continue moving very slowly towards Lambda until the middle of July, and will then turn and move, east towards Alpha. April and May were the best months for seeing Uranus, but it is still visible to the naked eye in a clear sky on a dark night. Don't believe those who tell you that a telescope is needed to see it. If your eyes won't reach it, use an opera-glass. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Description : Excerpt from The Educational Review, Vol. 17: June 1, 1903, to June 1, 1904 It is encouraging to note the willingness of the Board to follow up the efforts of Sir William Macdonald and Professor Robertson in connection with manual training and consolidated rural schools. It now remains for energetic and ambitious teachers to Qualify themselves to teach the new subjects, for which such liberal inducements are offered.
