Description : In The Holy Spirit as Communion, Leon Harris examines the pneumatologies of Colin Gunton and Frank Macchia. For both theologians, the doctrine of the Holy Spirit is foundational to understanding their doctrine of God, Christology, and ecclesiology. Drawing on the theme of communion, The Holy Spirit as Communion expresses the concept that the Holy Spirit is the person who perfects the divine nature and personhood of the Father and Son. It is the Holy Spirit who perfects the eternal communion within the divine Trinity, which is the source of the divine action that also perfects the communion in creation as an expression of the Father’s will through Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit as Communion explores the essentiality of the Holy Spirit through a unique approach to Spirit Christology: Gunton is represented by a radicalized version of Chalcedon Christology, and Macchia formulates his account through the overarching metaphor of “Spirit baptism.” Therefore, the doctrine of God, Christology, ecclesiology, and eschatology cannot be construed without a proper account of pneumatology that takes into consideration the eschatological perfecting work of the third person of the Trinity—who perfects creation’s koinonia as a gift from the Father through the grace of Jesus Christ.

Description : "And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven." Luke 24:49 New Living Translation What is the greatest promise God ever made? Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. 30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come. 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.(Acts 2:15-21) For all the blessings God has ever given to mankind the Holy Spirit remains one of the most integral and important. Yet many Christians struggle with unlocking the power in their lives because there is so much denominational doctrine division and differences in theology in the church. You don't have to be a spiritual leader to experience the presence of God and continue the works of Jesus on earth. All you need is a powerful divine encounter with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is mentioned 264 times in the New Testament alone, yet many believers are often confused about the role of the Third Person of the Trinity. The contents of this book are based on a thorough comprehensive biblical model for learning about the person and power of the Holy Spirit and how He can work in the lives of individuals. This book is for everyone because it is written in a very simple yet profound style, employing user-friendly language that makes the message accessible to every reader who desires to know the Holy Spirit and His anointing without requiring denominational affiliations or a high level of theological knowledge. From the Holy Scriptures, Dr. Abraham Peters shows that the Holy Spirit wants to be our Comforter, Teacher, and mighty Helper. From the Pentecost experience at the upper room where the 120 believers were baptized with the cloven tongues of fire and began to spread the holy fire by doing the miraculous. This new life the early Christians lived amazed the world and "turned it upside down."(Acts 17:6 & Acts 4:13). In this book, You will find answers to questions about Who is the Holy Spirit, and what is the Spirit's role? Names, Gifts, Fruits, Symbols, and Attributes of the Holy Spirit. Activities of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit in the Life of Jesus and lots more. To know the Holy Spirit is to know Him as an ever-present, loving Friend and mighty Helper who wants you to know Him as a Person just as real as Jesus Christ. Today, many are experiencing healing, miracles, and other gifts of the Holy Spirit along with the love, joy, and peace that He freely gives. You can know Him personally and experience His miracle-working power in your own life too. When was the last time you had a supernatural encounter with the Holy Spirit? In this book Dr. Abraham Peters teaches you why God wants to communicate with us, how God gets our attention, how God communicates with us, and how to listen to God and enjoy His loving presence. Learning to listening to the God who wants to speak to you. His voice waits to be heard and, having heard it, we are launched into the greatest, most exciting adventure we could ever imagine..

Description : Grace, love and communion are always Apostle Paul's closing prayer for every church he wrote to, the question however is "what is this communion?" Why do we do "Holy Communion"? How are we to relate with the Holy Spirit? Why should it be a communion of the Holy Spirit and not the Father or the Son? Really, the benediction is deeper than what we just recite, close from believers' gatherings and go our different ways. It is all that believers are called into. The Dinner is the third in the exposition on 2 Corinthians 13:14 after "Grace", And "Love, the Lover, and the loved.

Description : While he was well known for his lifelong fascination with the nature of religious experience, the colonial American pastor and theologian Jonathan Edwards is seldom associated with a specifically Trinitarian spirituality. This study explores the central connections Edwards drew between his doctrines of religious experience and the Trinity: the person and work of the Holy Spirit. Edwards envisioned the Spirit's inter-Trinitarian work as the affectionate bond of union between the Father and the Son, a work that, he argued, is reduplicated in a finite way in the work of redemption. Salvation is ultimately all about being drawn in love into the Trinitarian life of the Godhead. This study takes us through the major regions of Edwards's theology, including his Trinitarianism, his doctrine of the end for which God created the world, his Christology, and his doctrines of justification, sanctification, and glorification, to demonstrate the centrality of the Holy Spirit throughout his theology.

Description : All the large churches in the world agree on this: communion is the highest expression of the church unity. Yet it is exactly the act of communion that historically has given rise to vehement controversies among the churches. This new book not only explores the meaning of holy communion but also marks a turning point on the way to common understanding. Welker gives a clear explanation of holy communion based on the biblical tradition and evaluates the ecumenical discourse on communion of the past thirty years. In the process he answers such often posed questions as "What do we mean when we say that Christ is present in communion?" "How are Christ's body and blood connected with bread and wine?" "What is the difference between the Christian Supper and the Jewish Passover meal?" and "Are children allowed to share in communion?"

Description : The Christian life seemingly involves many outward matters and things, such as baptism, the breaking of bread, worship, praise, prayer, forgiveness, humility, and love for one another. As such, it is easy to focus on these things but miss the spiritual reality behind them. This reality is the Holy Spirit. Apart from the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of reality, all of these things, no matter how faithfully practiced, are merely outward conduct that is devoid of any real inward spiritual content.

Description : In this volume, originally published in English in 1900-it was translated by HENRI DE VRIES (1847-1932)-Abraham Kuyper addresses what he feels is a scarcely discussed topic among theologians and practicing Christians: the person and work of the Holy Spirit. Much had been written about Jesus and the Father, but he found very little about the Holy Spirit, whose job it is to sanctify the soul. Kuyper divides his work into three volumes. Volume One covers the work of the Holy Spirit in the Church; Volumes Two and Three cover the work of the Holy Spirit in the individual. Dutch theologian ABRAHAM KUYPER (1837?1920) was prime minister of the Netherlands from 1901 to 1905. He developed Neo-Calvinism, which emphasizes the sovereignty of Jesus over all mental pursuits and supports the idea that there exists a grace given by God to all things in order to sustain the continued unfolding of creation. Kuyper wrote a number of books including Conservatism and Orthodoxy (1870), The Social Question and the Christian Religion (1891), and Common Grace (1902).
