Mystery of Tammuz 17 Book Excerpt:

The Bible predicts the future, but scholars widely disagree on what the Bible says! How can the average person sort out fact from fiction? Daniel 12:10 boldly states that the wise will understand prophetic chronology in the last days. Have those days already begun? Retired hi-tech inventor and author Herbert R. Stollorz discovered that the dates of many key events predicted in the books of Daniel and Revelation fall between the years 2008 and 2018. Two of the keys that unlocked this mystery are the Hebrew Alphabet Number System and the Jewish feast and fast days. One of those fast days, Tammuz 17, commemorates the fall of Jerusalem prior to the destruction of God's Temple in that ancient city.

Days of Awe Book Excerpt:

For many Jewish people in the mid-twentieth century, Zionism was an unquestionable tenet of what it meant to be Jewish. Seventy years later, a growing number of American Jews are instead expressing solidarity with Palestinians, questioning old allegiances to Israel. How did that transformation come about? What does it mean for the future of Judaism? In Days of Awe, Atalia Omer examines this shift through interviews with a new generation of Jewish activists, rigorous data analysis, and fieldwork within a progressive synagogue community. She highlights people politically inspired by social justice campaigns including the Black Lives Matter movement and protests against anti-immigration policies. These activists, she shows, discover that their ethical outrage at US policies extends to Israel’s treatment of Palestinians. For these American Jews, the Jewish history of dispossession and diaspora compels a search for solidarity with liberation movements. This shift produces innovations within Jewish tradition, including multi-racial and intersectional conceptions of Jewishness and movements to reclaim prophetic Judaism. Charting the rise of such religious innovation, Omer points toward the possible futures of post-Zionist Judaism.

The Holocaust s Jewish Calendars Book Excerpt:

“The most comprehensive to date treatment of these precious artifacts of the Holocaust’s Jewish efforts to maintain religious observations and identity.” —Choice Calendars map time, shaping and delineating our experience of it. While the challenges to tracking Jewish conceptions of time during the Holocaust were substantial, Alan Rosen reveals that many took great risks to mark time within that vast upheaval. Rosen inventories and organizes Jewish calendars according to the wartime settings in which they were produced—from Jewish communities to ghettos and concentration camps. The calendars he considers reorient views of Jewish circumstances during the war and show how Jews were committed to fashioning traditional guides to daily life, even in the most extreme conditions. In a separate chapter, moreover, he elucidates how Holocaust-era diaries sometimes served as surrogate Jewish calendars. All in all, Rosen presents a revised idea of time, continuity, the sacred and the mundane, the ordinary and the extraordinary even when death and destruction were the order of the day. Rosen’s focus on the Jewish calendar—the ultimate symbol of continuity, as weekday follows weekday and Sabbath follows Sabbath—sheds new light on how Jews maintained connections to their way of conceiving time even within the cauldron of the Holocaust. “Rosen demonstrates the relationship between time and meaning, between meaning and holiness, between holy days and the divine presence―all of which came under assault in the Nazis’ effort to kill Jewish souls before destroying Jewish bodies.” —David Patterson, author of Along the Edge of Annihilation: The Collapse and Recovery of Life in the Holocaust Diary

The Good News Book Excerpt:

Jesus told his disciples to proclaim the Good News. Paul said that the Good News is how God saves people. What is the Good News? Is our understanding of the Good News accurate and complete enough to produce salvation for ourselves and others? The Good News begins when Zechariah prophesies that the promised blessing and kingdom have come. Zechariah's son, John the Baptist, continues this message. Jesus adds to the Good News. He teaches the Good News of the Word and announces that he is the promised good shepherd. Near the close of his temporal ministry, Jesus reveals the coming of the promised new covenant and outpouring of the Spirit. The Good News is the message that God has redeemed us, delivered us from the power of our enemies, and provided a way for us to serve him without fear in holiness and righteousness. It tells us how God did this and how we are to align our lives with God's deliverance and his provision for holiness and righteousness. God's Good News declares deliverance in the present age, from destruction when God sweeps the wicked from the earth, and from eternal punishment in the future age.

Time and Difference in Rabbinic Judaism Book Excerpt:

How the rabbis of late antiquity used time to define the boundaries of Jewish identity The rabbinic corpus begins with a question–“when?”—and is brimming with discussions about time and the relationship between people, God, and the hour. Time and Difference in Rabbinic Judaism explores the rhythms of time that animated the rabbinic world of late antiquity, revealing how rabbis conceptualized time as a way of constructing difference between themselves and imperial Rome, Jews and Christians, men and women, and human and divine. In each chapter, Sarit Kattan Gribetz explores a unique aspect of rabbinic discourse on time. She shows how the ancient rabbinic texts artfully subvert Roman imperialism by offering "rabbinic time" as an alternative to "Roman time." She examines rabbinic discourse about the Sabbath, demonstrating how the weekly day of rest marked "Jewish time" from "Christian time." Gribetz looks at gendered daily rituals, showing how rabbis created "men's time" and "women's time" by mandating certain rituals for men and others for women. She delves into rabbinic writings that reflect on how God spends time and how God's use of time relates to human beings, merging "divine time" with "human time." Finally, she traces the legacies of rabbinic constructions of time in the medieval and modern periods. Time and Difference in Rabbinic Judaism sheds new light on the central role that time played in the construction of Jewish identity, subjectivity, and theology during this transformative period in the history of Judaism.

Peter de Rivo on Chronology and the Calendar Book Excerpt:

Critical edition of previously unpublished works by a key philosopher of the fifteenth-century Low Countries Peter de Rivo (c.1420–1499), a renowned philosopher active at the University of Leuven, is today mostly remembered for his controversial role in the quarrel over future contingents (1465–1475). Much less known are his contributions to historical chronology, in particular his attempts to determine the dates of Christ’s birth and death. In 1471, Peter made an original contribution to this long-standing discussion with his Dyalogus de temporibus Christi, which reconciles conflicting views by rewriting the history of the Jewish and Christian calendars. Later in his career, Peter tackled the issue of calendar reform in his Reformacio kalendarii Romani (1488) and engaged in a heated debate with Paul of Middelburg on the chronology of Christ. This book edits the Dyalogus and Reformacio and sets out their context and transmission in an extensive historical introduction.

The Seed of the Woman and the Power of Darkness Book Excerpt:

There are so many questions in our life that we could not get the satisfactory answers – Why do fossils occurred; why are human beings superior to other creatures; why do human beings speak different languages; what is the origin of idol worship; how giants existed in this world in the ancient times; who built huge structures like the Egyptian’s pyramids; how did people go and live in secluded islands in the midst of vast oceans since ancient times; why didn’t people invent modern machines and equipments since ancient times when human beings have no different brain structures; why did powerful empires - Egyptian, Babylonian, Persian, Grecian, Roman sequentially exist in this earth; why are Christmas traditions celebrated fervently both in the Christian world and non-Christian world. When God saved me, He gradually revealed the answers to the above questions directly and indirectly. He then inspired me to write down the answers in the form of a Book which reflected God’s love story to save fallen human beings. In doing this, the war broke out between God and the power of darkness (Satan) who tried to prevent the Seed of the Woman (Jesus) from being born into this earth. In short, Satan tried to enslave human beings and keep the world under his control forever. But God’s plan is superior to Satan’s deceptive devices. God’s plan to bring back saved human beings to a perfect life as in the days of the Garden of Eden would soon be manifested any time now
