Description : FAIRY TALES AND MYTHS have enriched childhood for centuries. In between “Once upon a time” and “happily ever after” we embark on adventures that seem an eternity away from our everyday lives. Yet nothing could be further from the truth. In The Mysteries of Life in Children’s Literature, journey through a treasury of beloved fables and folk tales and discover the wisdom hiding within. In an age that rejects moral absolutes, children’s literature restores the meaning of good and evil, beautiful and ugly, normal and abnormal—and helps us see the nature of our world more clearly than we ever have before.

Description : This introduction to Nichiren Buddhism explores the philosophical intricacies of life and reveals the wonder inherent in the phases of birth, aging, and death. Core concepts of Nichiren Buddhism, such as the 10 worlds and the nine consciousnesses, illustrate the profundity of human existence. This book provides Buddhists with the tools they need to fully appreciate the connectedness of all beings and to revolutionize their spiritual lives based on this insight. Also explored are how suffering can be transformed to contribute to personal fulfillment and the well-being of others and how modern scientific research accords with ancient Buddhist views. Ultimately, this is both a work of popular philosophy and a book of compelling, compassionate inspiration for Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike that fosters a greater understanding of Nichiren Buddhism.

Description : The beliefs of human beings arose from the remote times of prehistory to mitigate their fears and worries about the dangers and threats of any event that put their survival at risk. Those beliefs gave rise to all the mysteries of life such as the mystery about God, life itself and death. Later surfaced the mystery about destiny and how everything around us arose and why life exists on Earth and if there are beings living on other planets or if we are alone. This completes a list of 5 important mysteries, to which we will be answering or unveiling them and solving them with real proven facts. Given the impact that beliefs and mysteries have on people's lives, Ivanni wanted to write this book to unveil and solve these mysteries so that people can evaluate their beliefs and become more open-minded in order to see their world with more objectivity to build their future and enjoy a better life.

Description : Also available in a full-color version. Nerve endings record our thoughts in books like this. Poetry lives on after we turn to stone with epitaphs bestowing our wonders. Grateful I live, reached 61 years this year, working, healthy, sober, fanciful, and deliciously enjoying the journey. Perhaps this is the vacation we planned before we were born, or metaphysical experience we could have no other way, wondering why we are here and what we are supposed to do when the whole point is to experience it to its fullest while trying to live with integrity. Suddenly I find myself exploring the mysteries of life and meditation, that wonderful mindset designed to rejuvenate the soul. Poetry offers such fine glimpses into mysteries, possibilities, room for error when other disciplines are seeking to machine tool everything. Verse frees us from the drudgery and complications of reality. I cannot discipline my brain to write novels. My mind spews out short bursts in poems and paintings, as in life's tasks. Making peace with the way we are is crucial - not the way we'd like to be, or the way other's demand. Let loose, spend some time with me in an easy chair, on a park bench, or enjoy reading in bed. Interesting how the mind sees pictures when reading words. Maybe my paintings will be your pictures. Maybe you'll have your own. Let's delve into some of the mysteries of life, meditating with eyes open, staring into spaces between the words, letting go of the burdens for a while.

Description : The book "Mysteries of Life" is the first book which reveals the secrets of the society of the world's confidants by that society's last remnant. These secrets have been hidden from public for thousands of years, and now based on his duty, the last remnant of the group, which we know as Mithraism, intends to transfer these world secrets to the people of the earth. Before landing and being born on the earth, in the heavens (or sky), man is a creative who comes to the earth on his own will and wish to promote his position and improve his creation abilities in the heavens. He spends a short period of his life on the earth and while he is left on the earth in a limited body with closed eyes and ears, the main duty of this creative is to recognize himself and his surrounding world. The stars and planets around the world and every part of this infinite universe is full of groups of very wise and intellectual people who, in their highest intellectual civilization, are busy creating and monitoring the universe. The aim of this book is to explain and describe the secrets of life and this infinite universe to all humans, and to facilitate the connection between earthly and extraterrestrial humans.

Description : Led into Mystery is an unanticipated sequel to John de Gruchy's book Being Human: Confessions of a Christian Humanist. It was prompted by the untimely and tragic death of his eldest son, Steve, in February 2010, and the questions this posed about the meaning of life and death from the perspective of Christian faith. A further prompt came as a result of a multi-disciplinary research project on "the humanist imperative in South Africa" (2009-2010). This raised critical questions about being human from the perspective of science, especially neuroscience, as well as other faith and secular perspectives. All these inform the discussion which is an exploration of mystery on the boundaries of human knowledge and experience, engagement with the world and the evolution of consciousness from a specifically Christian theological perspective. The title derives from Karl Rahner's comment that theology is about being led back into mystery -- the ultimate mystery of God disclosed in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus and the creative presence of the Spirit in the life of the world. This mystery is an open secret waiting to be explored, expressed and entered into by faith. In doing so, we discern the fragmentary mystery of being human alone and in relationship within the constraints of our time and space. We are rudely encountered by the perplexing mysteries of evil and death, but embraced by the mysteries of goodness and beauty, hope and love. We draw on memory and imagination to develop a language that enables us to explore mystery through the genre of myth, parable, poetry, the novel, music and art, we participate in the mysteries of faith that communicate grace, forgiveness, and freedom which enable us to be more fully human in the life of the world in the struggles for justice and peace.

Description : Did the Russian Grand Duchess Anastasia survive the slaughter of her family, and did Amelia Earhart perhaps survive her famous flight across the Pacific? Where did the evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson go when she vanished in May of 1926, and where did the mystery writer Agatha Christie disappear to later that same year? Was Napoleon in fact murdered, and might the same fate have befallen Dag Hammarskjold? Where's all the loot from the Great Train Robbery, not to mention all the spoils that were stashed away by the notorious gangster Dutch Schultz? Did two other mountain climbers reach the summit of Mount Everest before Sir Edmund Hillary, and did a French airplane cross the Atlantic just before Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis? Who was Jack the Ripper, and who was the Axman of New Orleans? All of these questions will be asked anew (and some of them will finally be answered) in the pages of this intoxicating new LIFE book. Here are no fewer than 50 cases from the files, each more baffling than the last. The famous folks are here — from Edgar Allan Poe to Jim Morrison to JonBenet Ramsey — as are equally compelling stories involving people who you have yet to meet. LIFE's editors have unearthed more than a few obscurities for your entertainment. Entertainment? Indeed. As these editors point out in their introductions: "There is something in human nature that draws up to the mysterious. We seek conclusions — but not really. We want answers but are entertained when they prove elusive. A mystery fascinates us, intrigues us, beguiles us. In its uncertainty, it has a softness and a sense of wonder that a solved, buttoned-down case lacks. An unsolved mystery can be romantic." Enter, then, into the romance of The Greatest Unsolved Mysteries of All Time. Puzzle out the possible solutions to these narratives and delight in the extraordinary photographs. Riveting stories and great photography: just what you would expect from LIFE, and the only aspect of this book that is not at all mysterious.

Description : In 1919, a Canadian teenager with a sixth-grade education arrived by train to the wilds of Los Angeles. Within a decade he had transformed himself into a world-renowned luminary and occult scholar. His name was Manly Palmer Hall, author of the landmark encyclopedia The Secret Teachings of All Ages and the 20th century's most prolific writer and speaker on ancient philosophies, mysticism, and magic. Hall revealed to thousands how universal wisdom could be found in the myths and symbols of the ancient Western mystery teachings. He amassed the largest occult library west of the Mississippi and founded The Philosophical Research Society in 1934 for the purpose of providing seekers rare access to the world's wisdom literature. He became a confidante and friend to celebrities and politicians. In 1990, he died - some say he was killed - in what remains an open-ended Hollywood murder mystery. This dramatic story of Hall's life and death provides a panorama of twentieth century mysticism and an insider's view into a subculture that continues to have a profound influence on movies, television, music, books, art, and thought.
