Description : Since its appearance nearly 35 years ago, Black's New Testament Commentary Series has been hailed by both scholars and pastors for its insightful interpretations and reliable commentary. Each book in the series includes: an insightful introduction to the important historical, literary, and theological issues; key terms and phrases from the translation highlighted in the commentary where they are discussed; explanations of special Greek or foreign terms; references to important primary and secondary literature; and a Scripture index."To Dr. Caird" and this is the main thing" the Apocalypse preaches the authentic gospel; 'John's doctrine of salvation, like that of the New Testament as a whole, is in three tenses, ' but 'it is characteristic of his visions that the tenses are constantly interfused, ' for 'the end is not an event but a person, the first and the last. . . .'"" Description : Two-Thousand years ago, the Christ Mind delivered a message to the world, “You must be born of the Spirit.” Through the willing instrument of Jesus, that Mind which was in Christ Jesus, poured out Itself for all who had “ears to hear,” telling us of Its plan to take us into the Kingdom of God right here on earth. But mankind did not understand this great message. Therefore, with Infinite Grace and Love, that same Christ Mind speaking out from the Invisible, repeated the message in great detail through St. John the Divine, and this became the Revelation. Over the centuries, this Revelation has been in plain sight, yet, not understood, or misunderstood, and the reason is because only the Christ Mind in man can reveal the Truth of Being. Not until the year 1970, did a man sit still in meditation over many months, until, at last, the entire message of the Revelation was revealed once again. That man was Herb Fitch. This two volume set of books covers the entire Revelation of St. John the Divine, the interpretation of which was received in Consciousness from the Christ Mind and spoken through Herb Fitch in a series of talks recorded on tapes. Transcribing this work work involved hours upon hours of dedication by many individuals. These individuals also sat in meditation before beginning to type the transcripts, and before beginning to edit the texts; so that all may be receptive to the Christ Mind while working on this Revelation and this message may be presented again to the world with integrity, preserving the Truth. It is suggested that you find a quiet place and read only one chapter at a time, until Something calls to you from these pages. Then, put these writings down, and walk away, find a place and sit down to meditate on what has stirred you within. I can tell you with a certainty born of experience that you can walk in another Dimension, right here, and right now, the Kingdom of Heaven on earth.

Description : This item is part of: Lenski New Testament: In Twenty Volumes. Pastors and students of the Bible who seek deep and detailed engagement with the text of the New Testament have long relied on R.C.H. Lenski's classic text now available again. Even though its historical-critical work has been surpassed, the strong narrative quality, accessibility, and "holy reverence for the Word of God" (Moody Monthly) of Lenski's work have allowed his commentary to continue as an excellent resource for serious study of the New Testament and sermon preparation.

(6) Columns for Discount on Purchases and Discount on Notes on the same side of the Cash Book; (c) Columns for Discount on Sales and Cash Sales on the debit side of the Cash Book; (d) Departmental columns in the Sales Book and in the Purchase Book. Controlling Accounts.--The addition of special columns in books of original entry makes possible the keeping of Controlling Accounts. The most common examples of such accounts are Accounts Receivable account and Accounts Payable account. These summary accounts, respectively, displace individual customers' and creditors' accounts in the Ledger. The customers' accounts are then segregated in another book called the Sales Ledger or Customers' Ledger, while the creditors' accounts are kept in the Purchase or Creditors' Ledger. The original Ledger, now much reduced in size, is called the General Ledger. The Trial Balance now refers to the accounts in the General Ledger. It is evident that the task of taking a Trial Balance is greatly simplified because so many fewer accounts are involved. A Schedule of Accounts Receivable is then prepared, consisting of the balances found in the Sales Ledger, and its total must agree with the balance of the Accounts Receivable account shown in the Trial Balance. A similar Schedule of Accounts Payable, made up of all the balances in the Purchase Ledger, is prepared, and it must agree with the balance of the Accounts Payable account of the General Ledger." The Balance Sheet.--In the more elementary part of the text, the student learned how to prepare a Statement of Assets and Liabilities for the purpose of disclosing the net capital of an enterprise. In the present chapter he was shown how to prepare a similar statement, the Balance Sheet. For all practical...

Description : This volume in the popular series of the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible covers the three letters of St. John and the Book of Revelation (or Apocalypse). The three Johannine letters are explored first, with ample notes and reflections representing the best of contemporary and traditional scholarship and commentary. The largest portion of this volume is devoted to the Revelation to John, also called the Book of Revelation and the Apocalypse (from the Greek, meaning "unveiling"). Written in highly symbolic style, the Revelation to John is perhaps the most difficult book of the Bible to understand. Scholars have long debated whether the book is concerned mainly with a symbolic depiction of the struggle of good against evil or whether it applies to specific events in history-its own time, the general course of Church history, or the end of the world. The annotations and commentary on this volume draw on the best elements from each approach, while emphasizing the biblical author's immediate intention: to recount the heavenly vision he received as it applied to his own time. Modern scholarship, as well as insights from the Church Fathers and other classic commentators, help the reader make sense of what many people regard as a confusing book. The Ignatius Catholic Study Bible includes Topical Essays, Word Studies and Charts. Each page features an easy-to-use Cross-Reference Section. Study Questions are provided for each biblical book, which can be used for personal or group study of the Word of God. Each biblical book includes an introductory essay covering questions of authorship, date, destination, structure and themes. Also included are outlines of each book. The text of the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible is the Revised Standard Version, Second Catholic Edition.

Description : Could the Revelation of St. John inspire us even today in our own spiritual quest? Yes, answers Dr. Korte, an author of several books and articles interpreting myths and the Bible, as she reads man’s spiritual transformation in St. John’s visions. Irma Korte questions the common view of Revelation as a prophesy of horrors and God’s revenge, and instead invites the reader into man’s inner world. Here, St. John contemplates in pictorial, mythical language the most essential problems in religion, such as the nature of man, reality, and evil. As the visions proceed, St. John himself experiences a profound inner change. He gives up alienating religious beliefs and moves toward ever deeper spirituality, culminating in the final illumination. Interpreting the visions much like myths are analyzed in Jungian thought, Dr. Korte compares the images in St. John’s visions to those from other religious texts, psychological and philosophical theories, mythology, and yoga literature, as well as from dreams and experiences of present-day men and women. The many quotations from the works of Occidental and Oriental mystics testify that they have used images similar to those of St. John in recounting their own experiences. These mystics include, among others, St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross, and Paramahansa Yogananda.

Description : George Caird's commentary on Revelation was a masterpiece of clarity and accessibility. However, Revelation scholarship has moved on since Caird wrote, and Ian Boxall's new commentary engages with these more recent developments. Much work has been done on the nature of apocalyptic. Boxall's book contains a more substantial introduction which explores the nature of Revelation as a visionary text, emphasizes the author's Patmos context, and pays more attention to the overall structure of the work. It also engages with the Apocalypse's rich and varied reception history.

Description : Jean Duvet transferred the Revelations of St. John onto the metal plate in a manner so relentless and uncompromising that for centuries his work was dismissed as "inept" and "crude." Today he is often cited as a unique predecessor to William Blake, and we are at last prepared to appreciate the emotional power of his crowded, violent compositions. This edition is published with the complete Authorized Version of the Revelation of St. John. - from the back cover.

Description : The Revelation of St. John, the last book of the canonical Bible, has been a mystery since it first appeared. No other part of the Bible has caused more controversy. Traditional interpretations of the book fall into one of three categories: the major prophecies that are supposed to have been fulfilled in the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.; the historical view that Revelation predicts the course of human events from the founding of Christianity to the end of the world; or the futurist view that Revelation predicts events that will occur at the end of the world. It's actually none of the above, writes Zachary F. Lansdowne, a leading expert in the field of spiritual initiation. In the Introduction to this rich and complex interpretation, he writes, "According to its own verses, the Revelation is concerned with the present time, which is whatever time we happen to be reading it, and contains information that we can apply immediately to become blessed." This is not a book about "end times" or Armageddon and when it might come. This is a book written entirely in symbols, concealing a path for early Christians, and for the contemporary reader. Lansdowne has applied a unique psychological method of interpretation that takes each symbol as depicting some aspect of human consciousness rather than an eternal event, thus showing that the Revelation is actually a detailed instruction for the spiritual journey--a map to the wakening of higher consciousness. Moreover, while the Revelation appears in the great lineage of Judeo-Christian tradition, Lansdowne shows that its instruction can be appreciated and applied to seekers from any tradition. Lansdowne's line-by-line and verse-by-verse interpretation--presented here in an easy-to-read side-by-side format--is a manual for the true seeker who would follow teachings of Jesus as they were and are laid out, rather than as they have been interpreted by theologians and biblical historians. The Revelation of St. John, when unlocked by the key of psychological methodology, is revealed to contain ideas from many diverse wisdom traditions and philosophies--archangels in Judaism, chakras and kundalini in Hinduism, Buddhist mindfulness, the redemptive power of love in Christianity, and absolute standards of comparison in Platonic philosophy. Zachary Lansdowne's revelatory text makes these teachings of the path to true soul initiation available to seekers from every spiritual tradition.
