Description : New in the Eerdmans Classic Biblical Commentaries collection In this now-classic exposition of Revelation, first published in 1972, George Eldon Ladd offers a clear, engaging, and insightful reading of the Apocalypse that is ideal for the pulpit, classroom, or personal study. In a brief introduction Ladd discusses the subject of authorship, the date and historical setting of Revelation, and the various methods of interpretation (preterist, historical, idealist, and futurist) that have been applied to the book throughout history. He then offers an analytical outline of Revelation's structure and his verse-by-verse commentary, which reflects a historic premillennial perspective. The entire work is marked by Ladd's sensitivity to the needs of both scholars and general readers and by his concern for proclaiming the message of Revelation for our time.

Description : [T]he drama opens in Revelation the same as in the Book of the Dead, with the resurrection and the glory of the coming Son. Behold He cometh with the clouds, and every eye shall see Him. It is the risen Lord of Resurrection who says: I was dead, and behold I am alive evermore, and I have the keys of death and of hades (Ch. i 18). This is Horus of the resurrection risen from Amenta in his triumph over death and hell or Sut and Akar. He proclaims himself to he the all-one, Har-Sum-taui-Neb-U . Jesus, like Horus, is the faithful witness for the Father... from Egyptian Wisdom in the Revelation of John the Divine It goes unappreciated by modern Egyptologists, but it is embraced by those who savor the concept of a hidden history of humanity, and those who approach all human knowledge from the perspective of the esoteric. Gerard Massey 's massive Ancient Egypt: The Light of the World first published in 1907 and the crowning achievement of the self-taught scholar redefines the roots of Christianity via Egypt, proposing that Egyptian mythology was the basis for Jewish and Christian beliefs. Here, Cosimo proudly presents Book 11 of Ancient Egypt, in which Massey demonstrates how Scripture was created from the remains of Egypto-gnostic traditions, with little knowledge of the ancient wisdom upon which it drew, through the specific example of the Biblical story of the Book of Revelation and John the Divine. Using Egyptian mythology, Massey makes sense of the apocalyptic visions of Revelation by showing how they are actually the work of Taht-Aan, a pre-Christian John the Divine. Peculiar and profound, this work will intrigue and delight readers of history, religion, and mythology. British author GERALD MASSEY (1828 1907) published works of poetry, spiritualism, Shakespearean criticism, and theology, but his best-known works are in the realm of Egyptology, including A Book of the Beginnings and The Natural Genesis.

Description : The Revelation to John by Stephen Smalley is a magisterial interpretation of John's Apocalypse as a grand drama, which can only be properly understood in light of John's Gospel and letters and in the context of the Johannine community. As such, it offers the reader a significantly different approach to this enigmatic text than that offered by most contemporary commentaries. Working directly from the Greek text, Smalley offers a masterful analysis of the critical and literary dimensions of the Apocalypse for students and scholars alike. Contents include an in-depth, critical analysis of the Greek text of Revelation a wealth of scholarly interaction with other commentaries and interpretations of Revelation a canonical assessment of Revelation in light of other Johannine texts a historical understanding of Revelation in the context of the Johannine community an interpretation of Revelation as cosmic drama Here is a fresh contribution to the scholarly study of this captivating but often perplexing book of the Bible. Smalley demonstrates that the Apocalypse speaks directly to any situation in any age and offers a portrait of God's loving justice that is relevant to our own society.

Description : Revelation is stylistically unlike any other part of the New Testament and is notoriously bewildering and difficult to understand. In Revelation, we come face to face with terrifying sight of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and with the horrifying concept of Armageddon – but these fearful prospects are carefully explored by William Barclay in ways that lead us to the revelation that Christians shall know heaven and the true glory of God.

Description : In this concise and clearly written commentary, Charles H. Talbert brings to mainline Christians a fresh reading of the book of Revelation, demonstrating that it is not only accessible but relevant for the modern-day Christian. According to Talbert, the primary causes of the marginalized status of the book of Revelation by mainline Christians are threefold--the apparent inaccessibility of its meaning, the seeming impossibility of its pastoral application, and its demonstrated susceptibility to abuse. Talbert ably demonstrates that the book of Revelation was written to help the early Christians avoid assimilation into the larger pagan culture. Talbert also gives full attention to the literature of the Greco-Roman, early Christian, and early Jewish worlds as he examines the more mystical components of the narrative.

Description : At this pint I have to explain that we are living in a time never seen before. The nations of Europe and America are the messengers of the gospel in our time resulting in an outpour of blessings. Now they own most of the resources, abundance and wealth of the world. Many nations in Africa and Asia are suffering in hunger, misery, poverty and epidemics. Although he thought gospel has reached all the nations of the world, the love of God and the good news of Jesus have yet to reach the majority of the world population. Preaching the gospel together with charity, according to the apostles in initial times, is of the utmost importance today. Feeding the starving, healing the sick, saving the lepers, taking care of the orphans and widows, supporting the poor, healing the invalids and victims can be done by the Christians of the rich nations. It is an opportunity never existing before in world history. The barriers of hatred between the rich and the poor have to come down with endeavor and adventures of Christian love. To challenge the deprived, once saved, to join the movement of Christian love in their country would intensify and accelerate the worldwide salvation. It required people being entirely selfless and dedicated. There are young people ready for action in many countries. They need examples to be followed and it is a challenge for all the churches. The truth, received from God in the Bible, has transformed the ethics and the religions of mankind, created Christian laws and generated understanding and cooperation between the nations, although most people are unaware of these facts. It is possible to become enlightened and to experience the truth. Therefore this interpretation may contribute to the elucidation of the revelation of John.

Description : The Revelation to John has been with us for about 2000 years and has been the subject of diverse attempts at interpretation. The Revelation as given is a vision of the end time work of the Son of Man and the sole purpose is to prepare humanity for that mission and offer them the chance to recognise the last Envoy of God when He does come. It is only with this understanding in view that the Revelation can be appreciated. All the promised messages for the end-time are now available to us and I believe we are in a better position to understand the message of The Revelation. Indeed, I believe that we urgently need to understand its message. The urge and pressure amongst all striving human spirits to unravel the mysteries of The Revelation represents this need. This study is not a substitute for The Revelation, but may be regarded as a call for a deeper study and hopefully an awakening to the need to experience the times in a more alert manner. The work is offered in the recognition that the Revelation is being fulfilled in this epoch and as such is a must read for all striving human spirits
