Description : True Digital Control: Statistical Modelling andNon–Minimal State Space Designdevelops a true digitalcontrol design philosophy that encompasses data–basedmodel identification, through to control algorithm design, robustness evaluation and implementation. With a heritage from bothclassical and modern control system synthesis, this book issupported by detailed practical examples based on theauthors’ research into environmental, mechatronic and roboticsystems. Treatment of both statistical modelling and control designunder one cover is unusual and highlights the important connectionsbetween these disciplines. Starting from the ubiquitous proportional–integralcontroller, and with essential concepts such as pole assignmentintroduced using straightforward algebra and block diagrams, thisbook addresses the needs of those students, researchers andengineers, who would like to advance their knowledge of controltheory and practice into the state space domain; and academics whoare interested to learn more about non–minimal state variablefeedback control systems. Such non–minimal state feedback isutilised as a unifying framework for generalised digital controlsystem design. This approach provides a gentle learning curve, fromwhich potentially difficult topics, such as optimal, stochastic andmultivariable control, can be introduced and assimilated in aninteresting and straightforward manner. Key features: Covers both system identification and control systemdesign in a unified manner Includes practical design case studies and simulationexamples Considers recent research into time–variable andstate–dependent parameter modelling and control, essentialelements of adaptive and nonlinear control system design, and thedelta–operator (the discrete–time equivalent of thedifferential operator) systems Accompanied by a website hosting MATLAB examples True Digital Control: Statistical Modelling andNon–Minimal State Space Design is a comprehensive andpractical guide for students and professionals who wish to furthertheir knowledge in the areas of modern control and systemidentification.
Description : Popular author James W. Moore recalls how several years ago, while delivering the sermon at his church one Sunday morning, he had told a moving story about a boy and his dog. The author’s then-five-year-old son, Jeff, was fascinated by the story, but feeling a bit uncertain about some of the details of it, during the family’s car ride home from church, Jeff asked his father, “Daddy, is that story true, or were you just preaching?” Highly amused by Jeff’s question, Jim Moore went on to explain to his young son that there are two kinds of stories: TRUE stories, stories that happened factually in history; and TRUTH stories, stories like Jesus’ parables, which are shared to underscore a dramatic truth in life. The several short chapters and stories in this book are designed to highlight such life-truths, with chapter titles such as “Go out Singing,” “Roadblocks,” “Should I Forgive?” “One Step at a Time,” “Who’s in Control Here?” “What Can One Person Do?” “Tell Me, Please, How to Be Happy,” “Why not You?” “Keep on Keeping On,” “Jesus: The Message and the Messenger,” “The Importance of Uniqueness,” and others. This book contains a discussion guide.
Description : Artificial Intelligence in Real-Time Control documents the proceedings of the IFAC Workshop held in Clyne Castle, Swansea, UK, 21-23 September 1988. It includes two keynote addresses that discussed architectural issues for expert systems in real-time control; the problem of representing knowledge and reasoning; and the problems encountered in obtaining such information. Other papers contained in these proceedings are representative of the major research bodies active throughout the world in the application of AI techniques in real-time control, although it was inevitable that a Europe-based conference would highlight the work of the European groups. While AI is clearly still in the process of establishing itself, it is undoubtedly a major new area of engineering endeavor. Practical experience is still relatively limited, and many of the results discussed at this event were obtained through simulation or, in a few cases, from reduced practical experience. The importance, though, lies in the fact that many countries are pouring extensive resources into the attempt to control difficult processes by using AI techniques. The wide cross section of interest was demonstrated by the fact that many diverse industries were represented at the workshop—ranging from power-systems control to telecommunications, and into the steel industry.

Description : Once upon a time Gina, the Goddess Queen of All-Souls, recorded her history in books for all worlds to enjoy. This is Gina's time. It's now 2013, and the right time for this Angel of Victory to share her story. During her adventures she travelled to many places, and worlds. One of the worlds Gina visits is called the IINN-E. Non-Believers say the IN doesn't exist. Some say the IN is a secret society and others say it's just a myth. Regardless; Gina's a Believer so the IN is connected to her life story. During Gina's time there are many Masters, Lords, Kings, and Queens at work, and play on many game boards. They play soul collection games. The Powers that Be play for real. Some players play for fun where only card, candy and toy souls are collected. Many do training exorcises on game boards to learn how to rule the IN. Some players want to be famous legends who rule, and others want to take over the world. Some players wanted all the fame, fortune, money, riches, and power for themselves. Once the games are over the losers soul cards are collected. Their wealth and possessions are spread to other teams. There are many game competitions on all the many levels. Winners of the IN's soul collection games are given honours, titles, riches, power and glory. Winners victories are celebrated, soul collection cards are made to honour them, and their history is recorded.
Description : Judge David Edward has enjoyed a spectacular career. After a substantial, successful period in Scotland, both as a practicing advocate and professor of EC law, he was appointed to the Court of First Instance upon its creation in 1989. He was subsequently appointed to the Court of Justice where he has served for many years. This book has been prepared in honor of his retirement from that position in December 2003. The contributions reflect all aspects of Judge Edward's career as a lawyer, both in Scotland and in Luxembourg. In keeping with the respect with which he is held, contributions have been received from eminent members of the Scottish and Luxembourg judiciary, academics and practitioners. Not surprisingly, the main focus is on community law, with important contributions on competition, institutional, substantive and remedial issues. This book will be an essential addition to the library of anyone with a genuine interest in community law.
Description : Every day we face some kind of frustration: flat tires, flooded basements, wounding words, a broken body, a troubled marriagetrouble comes in all shapes and sizes and can happen when we least expect it. While everyone struggles, few people have learned to struggle well. But its not impossible! Frustrations arise when we look to people and things of this world to fill our desires, rather than to the only One who can really satisfy us. True North offers a unique, biblical paradigm that gives understanding and help to turn to God in the frustrations of life. Frustration often causes us to go south and react in the flesh. We grumble and grasp. God calls us to go north and respond to hardship with wisdom and redemptive love. Combining biblical insight with personal stories, practical help, and compelling examples, authors Gary and Lisa Heim encourage readers to turn from self-centered grumbling and grasping to Christ-centered gratitude and giving. As they read stories of hardships and trials, successes and profits, readers will see how frustrations can actually help them grow in their personal lives, in their marriages, in their parenting, and in their ministries. Believing that learning to live for God through all of lifes frustration is an intentional activity for every day, the Heims also provide discussion questions at the end of each chapter to help readers apply biblical truths to situations where frustrations loom. Perfect for use in ministry settings or as a handbook for personal growth, Truth North shows readers how to embark on the life-giving adventure of walking with God.
