Description : For years, Iranian academics, writers, and scholars have equated national development and progress with the reform of men’s sexual behavior. Modern intellectuals repudiated native sexuality in Iran, just as their European counterparts in France and Germany did, arguing that transforming male identity was essential to the recovery of the nation. DeSouza offers an alternate narrative of modern Iranian masculinity as an attempt to redraw social hierarchies among men. Moving beyond rigid portrayals of Islamic patriarchy and female oppression, she analyzes debates about manhood and maleness in early twentieth-century Iran, particularly around questions of race and sexuality. DeSouza presents the larger implications of Pahlavi hegemonic masculinity in creating racialized male subjects and "productive" sexualities. In addition, she explores a cross-pollination with Europe, identifying how the "East" shaped visions of European male identity.

Description : Selected by Choice magazine as an Outstanding Academic Title Unveiling Eve is the first feminist inquiry into the Hebrew poetry and prose forms cultivated in Muslim and Christian Spain, Italy, and Provence in the eleventh through fourteenth centuries. In the Jewish Middle Ages, writing was an exclusively male competence, and textual institutions such as the study of scripture, mysticism, philosophy, and liturgy were men's sanctuaries from which women were banished. These domains of male expertise—alongside belles lettres, on which Rosen's book focuses—served as virtual laboratories for experimenting with concepts of femininity and masculinity, hetero- and homosexuality, feminization and virilization, transvestism and transsexuality. Reviewing texts as varied as love lyric, love stories, marriage debates, rhetorical contests, and liturgical and moralistic pieces, Tova Rosen considers the positions and positioning of female figures and female voices within Jewish male discourse. The idolization and demonization of women present in these texts is read here against the background of scripture and rabbinic literature as well as the traditions of chivalry and misogyny in the hosting Islamic and Christian cultures. Unveiling Eve unravels the literary evidence of a patriarchal tradition in which women are routinely rendered nonentities, often positioned as abstractions without bodies or reified as bodies without subjectivities. Without rigidly following any one school of feminist thinking, Rosen creatively employs a variety of methodologies to describe and assess the texts' presentation of male sexual politics and delineate how women and concepts of gender were manipulated, fictionalized, fantasized, and poeticized. Inaugurating a new era of critical thinking in Hebrew literature, Unveiling Eve penetrates a field of medieval literary scholarship that has, until now, proven impervious to feminist criticism.

Description : Whether people realize it or not, the ideas in 1 Corinthians 11:2-16 have had a huge impact on the role of Christian women in the church through the centuries. These fifteen verses have shaped worship practices, church structures, church leadership, marriages, and even relationships between men and women in general. They have contributed to practices that have consistently placed women in a subordinate role to men, and have been used to justify the idea that a woman should not occupy a leadership or teaching position without being under the authority or "covering" of a man. It is strange, therefore, that academics and pastors alike continue to note how confusing and difficult it continues to be to make sense of these very verses. In this little book, Lucy Peppiatt not only highlights the problems associated with using this text to justify the subordination of women, but offers a clear and plausible re-reading of the text that paints the apostle Paul as a radical, visionary, church planter who championed women in all forms of leadership.

Description : In the present, the Christianity is going through a time of much confusion of false apostles and false prophets, along with false teachings and erroneous interpretations of the Bible. The churches have been infiltrated by homosexuality and bizarre cults; the moral crises at all levels in our society, the ravening crime, rapes of children, and family violence all demonstrate the urgent need that the Christian people have to seek in prayer for God's intervention to heal human beings from their terrible spiritual condition. In this book, the reader will find concepts that may help him to grow and to get stronger spiritually. Here is a brief list of the many topics covered in this book: * More than three hundred Old Testament prophecies about the Messiah that were fulfilled in Jesus Christ * The deity from eternity of the Begotten Son of God that can be seen in both the Old and the New Testament * The evidence of the fullness of the Holy Spirit * The return of Jesus by the saints in the Old Testament, as well as in the New Testament, and the prophecies that demonstrate the rapture of the heirs of the kingdom of heaven of the born-again believers * The prophecies about the millennium and the time of its fulfillment * The security of the salvation of the kingdom of heaven of the children of God * The judgment of the nations and the White Throne judgment * The resurrection of the dead in the Millennium * The resurrection of the dead and the judgment of condemnation for the impious

Description : Apocalypse, the Unveiling is a layman's explanation of end-time events. In an easy to understand manner the author charts a course through the sometimes treacherous waters of eschatology. The authors’ unique viewpoint resolves the conflict between the pre-tribulation camps and mid-tribulation camps. This viewpoint is summed up by utilizing the roadmap mentioned above and realizing that there are three groups of Christians seen in heaven in three different locations and at three different times. 1.) Group one (Revelation 7:9-12) What we commonly call the Rapture 2.) Group two (Revelation 14:1-5) The second group consists of the 144,000 Jewish witnesses seen standing on the heavenly Mt. Zion. 3.) The third group of Christians are seen standing next to the glassy sea mixed with fire after they had been martyred. The author explains the Book of Revelation as a sequence of events that does not deviate from the narrative that the Apostle John received from God.

Description : “The one who reads this is blessed, and those who hear the words of this prophecy and keep what is written in it are blessed, because the time is near!” —Revelation 1:3 (HCSB) Respected Bible teacher and beloved pastor Adrian Rogers takes readers on a breathtaking journey through the “blessing book” of Revelation with Unveiling the End Times in Our Time. Indeed, Revelation offers every Christian believer a dramatic and hope-filled overview of what the end of days will be like. Description : In this book, l will show why you need to persevere in your trials, temptations and pain in order to secure your destiny. God has promised you, of course, good things and a fulfilled destiny, but there is a process to go through. You must accept the process before you are given what has been promised. Many people, especially believers, want the best from God, but they are not ready for the process. Remember, process determines the end-product. The enemy cannot stop what God has made in the fiery furnace. It will stand the tests of time. Every believer must have a level of buoyancy just like a ball. The more you push a ball down in the water, once released, the higher the ball shoots into the air. The more you are pushed down in life, ostracize and told that you are nothing, the higher God will allow you to rise. The Lord will make the enemy out to be a liar and cancel every negative word spoken over your life. It is not as if the enemy (Satan) is stronger and has better weapons than we do. We, as children of God, just fail to pick up and use the weapons that God has given us to combat the enemy. Go with me in this timely book to encourage you and inspire you towards your destiny.

The book presents a gospel of good news, grace, and celebration and the triune God as the greatest romantic of the ages (Colossians 1:20, Ephesians 1:10, Colossians 2:9-10). God is a happy Father who takes great pleasure in loving His children and is resting on the finished, complete, and triumphant work of His Son. Come journey with me through the pages of this book, and have a glimpse at the divine romance and union of love that existed between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in eternity past, and you will understand your true origin and identity. Description : Unveiling a Parallel is an early feminist science fiction novel published in 1893. The book's title page attributes it to "Two Women of the West"—authors Alice Ilgenfritz Jones and Ella Merchant of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Jones and Merchant's male hero travels to Mars in an "aeroplane" (one of the first English uses of the word) and visits two "Marsian" societies, both of which contain a greater degree of gender equality than 1890s Earth. The story is an early example of utopianism and interplanetary travel in science fiction.
