Description : The author used some of his newly created poems in this book, alternating them with Prose in the form of thoughts, memories, reflections, and fanciful extrapolations. Some of those segments dealt with memories and autobiographical episodes. Other parts represent the author’s philosophical reactions to works on scientific topics he read, mostly in the fields of Physics and cosmology. Interspersed are elements of subjects relating to the lore reflected in theological currents and religious beliefs he encountered in his earlier life. His thoughts are presented in the theses he advances but are often meant in a “tongue-in-cheek” mode.

Description : As the title indicates, this is the second volume to "Poems, Visions, Reflections", which is titled "IMPRESSIONS in PROSE and VERSE" Like its predecessor, the book includes a number of poems that accompany the main substance of the book. The prose is a combination of flashbacks to the author's post-war University years in Germany based on the diaries he kept during that time. The author engages in some remarks he titles "Philosophical-ethical sketches", numbered I to VI. The main text deals with some of his ideas regarding the fields of sciences such as physics and cosmology along with his own position regarding those, which he calls "transcendental" all of it wrapped in his usual "tongue-in-cheek" mode of writing.

Description : This open access book, inspired by the ICME 13 Thematic Afternoon on “European Didactic Traditions”, takes readers on a journey with mathematics education researchers, developers and educators in eighteen countries, who reflect on their experiences with Realistic Mathematics Education (RME), the domain-specific instruction theory for mathematics education developed in the Netherlands since the late 1960s. Authors from outside the Netherlands discuss what aspects of RME appeal to them, their criticisms of RME and their past and current RME-based projects. It is clear that a particular approach to mathematics education cannot simply be transplanted to another country. As such, in eighteen chapters the authors describe how they have adapted RME to their individual circumstances and view on mathematics education, and tell their personal stories about how RME has influenced their thinking on mathematics education.

Description : Far more than a book, 'Visions of Reality - Art of Synthesis' is an invitation for you to partake in the secret of life itself, and 'life' in this instance is you, the reader. The relationship you have with the material held within its pages enables it to be transformed and taken forward into your world, to create your reality. YOU, quite literally, breathe life into the form. A synthesis of striking image, symbol and poetry, grounded in ancient wisdom from timeless spiritual traditions, it leads you onwards to surrender all, in favour of that which you know to be your true essence. If you value all that is light and true, and sincerely seek to move beyond the confines of separation consciousness, then please open your heart and accept this invitation... "Have you the courage? Dare you be free?" ..".one of the most original books that I ever read and I have been fascinated by its content. The pictures, together with an almost poetical text, will help the reader to enter a spiritual consciousness that will lighten the mind on the journey through this life." Ann Richards, Apple Pips Editing Services. "Barbara's work organically invites a process of unfolding timeless inner wisdom...it enables a process of awakening the inner teacher and connects profound understanding from the light of truth of our own inner source into our daily challenges." Ronald Holt. Director Flower of Life Research USA. "It is rare to find a book of this genre that can be worked with wherever you are on your spiral of development, a book of wisdom that generously empowers you to see your own inner sacredness. Both transpersonal and Alchemical, it really does what it says on the cover; it is the "Art of Synthesis" Angela Morse. Description : Growing evidence indicates that spiritual practices enhance personal resilience under challenging circumstances. Combining the wisdom of the Bible (stations) with modern considerations of positive psychology, Visions of Hope is a practical guide map for chronic patients. The symbolic framework of the stations of the cross serves in the examination and understanding of the challenging facets of chronic diseases, such as the trials of despair, suffering, and the hope of redemption. The book does not shy away from discussing the most difficult questions the reader might face, including the need to face death and what happens after we die. Original illustrations by the author, classic poetry, and quotes from the Bible and other religious and spiritual texts bring the content into a sharper focus for the reader in an aesthetically pleasing and meaningful volume. This is a book you will want to keep and share with family and friends throughout the disease process.

Description : The Society for Psychotherapy Research (SPR) is devoted to the development and dissemination of research, as well as the integration of empirical, theoretical, and clinical knowledge in psychotherapy. A highlight of the SPR annual meeting is the presidential address, wherein the president delivers what many view as the most important presentation of their career. In Visions of Psychotherapy, Bernhard Strauss, Jacques Barber, and Louis Castonguay, three recent past presidents, compile the preceding 20 presidential addresses from SPR into a single volume. Then, the living presidents (19 of the 20) comment on how the visions they described in their addresses have developed over time.

Description : Lawrence Ferlinghetti's "I Am Waiting" is one of the most significant politically motivated poems of the 20th century: a work of radical social criticism from the 1950s that affords its readers detailed insights into America's Cold War culture and portrays the unique historical moment when the United States gained global power. This study of "I Am Waiting" conducts a close reading of the poem's poetic form, contextualizes it within the socio-cultural and political conflicts of the 1950s, and traces its intertextual references throughout American history.

Description : In this beautifully conceived book, Ayesha Ramachandran reconstructs the imaginative struggles of early modern artists, philosophers, and writers to make sense of something that we take for granted: the world, imagined as a whole. Once a new, exciting, and frightening concept, “the world” was transformed in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. But how could one envision something that no one had ever seen in its totality? The Worldmakers moves beyond histories of globalization to explore how “the world” itself—variously understood as an object of inquiry, a comprehensive category, and a system of order—was self-consciously shaped by human agents. Gathering an international cast of characters, from Dutch cartographers and French philosophers to Portuguese and English poets, Ramachandran describes a history of firsts: the first world atlas, the first global epic, the first modern attempt to develop a systematic natural philosophy—all part of an effort by early modern thinkers to capture “the world” on the page.
