This book takes you through the year through the eyes of a senior citizen. She was saved and baptized at the age of eleven. She continues to discover new things as she reads and studies the Bible. She gains an even greater appreciation for the writers of both the Old and the New Testaments as she tries her hand at writing. She realizes that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and was written by men who were not perfect. Each person has strengths and weaknesses, and as such has made mistakes. They each learn that they must rely on God, just as we must learn to do. God loves each of us, and has our best interests in mind. The path on which He leads us may not be the easiest or the quickest, but it turns out to be the best for God's purposes and as such, is also the best one for us. The author shares memories of her life during the Depression and into the computer age, and frustrations she has while learning to use the new technology. You will be encouraged to look at your own memories in a new light and recognize how God was directing your path even when you didn't realize He was doing it!

Every human heart is on a pilgrimage seeking a spiritual connection, a divine encounter, or an epiphany that helps us make sense of it all. Walking the five-hundred-mile pilgrimage of the Camino de Santiago with my sister, I found Santiago was not only a destination but also a humble attitude of mind. Santiago is being open to God and his grace in nature, in the struggles and challenges of our heart, in the surprises of the path, and the encounters with other pilgrims. Each person's pilgrimage is an unfinished story until we meet God face-to-face. Besides our ups and downs, it is the story of God always trying to enter our lives and draw us more deeply into his life and love. That is the pilgrimage I hope you discover in these pages and in your life. Buen camino. Have a good journey!

Working through the lessons and handouts in this book, students will examine difficult and ambiguous questions from a subjective and balanced perspective. This curriculum provides cohesive, focused, scaffolded lessons to teach each targeted area of competency, followed by authentic application activities for students to then apply their newly developed skill set. One of the most colorful and captivating writers of the 20th century, Jaime de Angulo came to America to become a cowboy, not an author. And he did become a cowboy—and a doctor, and a psychologist, and a highly regarded anthropologist. However, it was as a writer that he ultimately found his true calling. His stories uniquely represented the bohemian sensibility of the time, and he was known for infusing intellectualism into his coyote tales and shamanic mysticism. So vivid were his tales that Ezra Pound called him "the American Ovid," and William Carlos Williams claimed that de Angulo was "one of the most outstanding writers that I have ever encountered." The Lariat, which may well be his most important piece of fiction, is highlighted in this prize collection, along with other writings that have long been unavailable.

On the banks of the River Avon, five sisters are born. The seasons come and go, the girls take their lessons under the ash tree, and always there is the sound of water swirling through the weir. Then, unexpectedly, an air of decay descends upon the house: ivy grows unchecked over the windows, angry shouts split the summer air, the milk sours in the larder and their father takes out his gun. Tragedy strikes the family, and before long the furniture is being auctioned off and the sisters dispersed among relatives. In her daring first novel, originally published in 1947, Barbara Comyns' unique young heroine relates the vivid, funny and bittersweet story of a childhood.

Embarking on a brand new adventure, I moved with my sixteen year old daughter from Kentucky to California at age 54, with the dog in the back seat. I was swept into a new exciting life, totally different from anything I had known before. After a fun relationship with a young man who turned out to be gay, I found my soul mate and was ready to ride off into the sunset with him. We decided to marry on Valentines Day of the next year. However I discovered he was alcoholic and that in fact, I had been dating and marrying alcoholics most of my life. Tragically, his drinking got so intense that I put a stop to the wedding and convinced him to go into recovery. With my heart breaking, I drove him to that recovery center on the very day we were to be wed, February 14th. Instead of pledging my eternal love to him, there I was dropping him off to sober up. After his stay there, we started our new adventure, but he vacillated between sobriety and drinking again. Through our mutual progress, we learned to come together and live life in a different way. We each had a separate path but retained the connection we originally found. We both found serenity and peace and a wonderful life together.
