Description : THE SOUL'S JOURNEY: GUIDANCE FROM THE DIVINE WITHIN propels the reader onto a breathtaking visionary quest as the soul's longing to know the Divine is answered by the loving power of Grace. Dr. Edwards uses his personal mystical experiences to gradually unfold the tasks to be mastered and the lessons to be learned as we tread our individual path to the Divine. His wisdom is grounded in both direct experience as well as in the knowledge of Jungian archetypal psychology, Eastern and Western mysticism and mythology. The book presents a rich interweaving of personal trials and challenges, insights from poet saints and mystics, uplifting experiences of the Divine being discovered in everyday life, and lofty overviews of the spiritual terrain from different vantage points. The reader will have the good fortune to find their faith and their enthusiasm for treading their path delightfully boosted by what they encounter in this book. Joseph Chilton Pearce, noted author and lecturer on human development whose books include THE MAGICAL CHILD, THE MAGICAL CHILD MATURES and EVOLUTION'S END: "You have a treasure chest of experience - so rich a story.... The only one worth telling - the only game in town." Dr. Marion Woodman, the highly regarded Jungian analyst, author of numerous works and co-author of DANCING IN THE FLAMES: THE DARK GODDESS IN THE TRANSFORMATION OF CONSCIOUSNESS: "I find your descriptions of your experiences fascinating. I really feel that blackness - radiant blackness [of Kali] - you describe. Also your descriptions and explanations and in-depth experiences of the chakras are excellent. Many thanks for sharing this with me. I know it can be of value to many who are working so hard to bring East and West, body and mind together." Stanley Krippner, Ph.D., professor of psychology, author of Spiritual Dimensions of Healing and editor of Dreamscaping: "...Edwards' first person accounts are riveting. [His] descriptions of his Kundalini states are eloquent, including colorful descriptions of his imagery (olfactory and tactile as well as visual and auditory) and profound insights into the human condition. Edwards skillfully guides his readers through a pathway on which he has been an experienced traveler." (AHP Perspective, Sept/Oct 2001)

Description : The forests of the Pacific Northwest are lands of mist and rain, of towering trees and salmon-choked rivers. Where forest approaches sea, there live the Tillamook and the Nisqually, two tribes tied to each other by hatred. Madsaw, war chief of the Tillamook, kidnaps Twana, step-daughter of the Nisqually shaman. Though their people are enemies and to love a slave violates tribal law, Madsaw finds comfort and desire in his captive's arms. Each lover's heart conceals a secret, Madsaw hides his grief and anger over the murder of his first wife. Twana's burden is far heavier: her spirit touches those of the forest's creatures, from the gentle deer to the powerful, half-mad grizzly bear who stalks the Tillamook village--and everyone who knows of her power hates and fears her. United by a love stronger than any fear, Twana and Madsaw are determined to find peace and happiness, no matter what perils they must face.

Description : Sait Faik may well be named "the Turkish Chekhov." In Turkey, critics and readers regard him as their finest short story writer. Since his death in 1954 at the age of forty-eight, his stature has grown on the strength of his narrative art, which is both realistic and whimsical with a poetic touch. Süha Oguzertem, a premier authority on Turkish fiction, writes in his introduction to Sleeping in the Forest that "As an anti-bourgeois writer and fierce democrat, Sait Faik has always sided with the underdog" and that no characters remain " 'common' or 'ordinary' once they enter Sait Faik's stories; his piercing gaze and thoughtful vision transform them lovingly into unique beings." Sait Faik's fiction ranges from the realistic to the surrealistic, from the romantic to the modern, from the cynical to the compassionate. With virtuosic skill, he captures the spirit and the spleen of the city of Istanbul and its environs. In evoking the mystery of that great metropolis through such ordinary characters as Armenian fishermen, Greek Orthodox priests, and the disillusioned and disfranchised, he creates for us a marvelous microcosm of tragicomedy. Few writers, in Turkey or elsewhere, command Sait Faik's mastery of the ironic. Sleeping in the Forest features twenty-two stories, an excerpt from a novella, and fifteen poems rendered into English by some of the best-known translators of Turkish literature. Sait Faik's chiaroscuro world is brought into focus by an introductory essay on utopian poetics and lyrical stylistics of this great Turkish writer. The book is a stimulating exploration into Turkish mood and milieu.
