Description : Based on a true story, More Heaven is about six children with special needs and the remarkable teacher who gives them a chance at learning and life. Despite challenges and a lack of support, Miss Tina Randolph’s commitment to reach, teach, and inspire these children is unwavering. By accepting their uniqueness and participating in their private fantasy world, while at the same time engaging them in the real world, she eventually succeeds. Tina, her quick-witted teacher’s aide Kaye, and the children mount a tireless, daily battle to shift the tide toward the acceptance of people who are different. The experiment, begun in chaotic, uncharted waters, bridges the gap of understanding and paves the way for the inclusionary practices of education and society’s acceptance of children and adults with special needs. This is a road that continues to need paving, making the messages in More Heaven equally relevant today. The book evolved from an experiment in the Philadelphia school system in the late 1970s in response to the 1975 Education for the Handicapped Act, ruling that public schools in the US educate all children with disabilities, despite their severity. Previously, many of these special needs children were kept at home—isolated and denied access to the mainstream. More Heaven is a powerful story of compassion, determination, disappointment, triumph, and love.
Description : Qualifications--I do not have a degree in English, nor have I "free-lanced" except for a few church bulletins throughoutthe years. However, I have written short stories since I was a teenager, and have practiced writing novelsas well. The novel I will be sending in is the first that actually "wrote itself"--I struggled with the others. This novel has something to say, and the prose is clear and readable, so I decided it was time to test it out.Something more personal--Christianity has been my life since I was twenty years of age, and the Lord's guidance in my life and actionsholds an important place in my accomplishments. The novel should reflect this, although it is fiction.Where I live/personal life--I live in Rowlett, Tx, just outside of Dallas city limits. I am married and have three children, two dogs, and ason-in-law. I worked retail for over 20 years. I belong to the Lutheran--Missouri Synod Church, taking partin choir and other activities. My other hobbies are weather, especially storm watch, and I have studiedsciences such as physics and chemistry, and math (higher calculus). I enjoy studying history, Bible historyincluded.
Description : Traditional teaching materials for elementary grades—Bible stories, pictures, and fill-in-the-blanks—become boring for students as they reach the fifth grade in Sunday school. They are ready to start using their own reading skills and for an introduction to expressing themselves through performing arts—drama. These Bible stories are directly from Scripture, allowing children to learn Scripture while acting it out in simple, easy-to-make costumes. They will be excited to use this new method of learning weekly and eager to arrive in your class each week to help set up the staging. With forty-two Old Testament and twenty-six New Testament stories presented in drama form, you’ll have more than enough to choose from to make your lesson for each week come alive. And the students will never forget the stories, because they were a part of them.

Description : From the opening Sanskrit mantra to the final act of voting in South Africa's first democratic elections, this lyrical memoir provides a unique perspective on South Africa's modern history. The account shows how a young Hindu woman of Indian ancestry, living in South Africa in the 1940s, defied convention, married a Muslim man, and became an activist at time when Muslim women were seldom seen in such a role. As a teacher, she spoke up during the political strife of that highly segregated era, which included the relocation of Indians and angry student boycotts, and here shares her philosophies and insights into education. Filled with characters from both a personal and national context, the memoir captures the nuances of an important time and place.
Description : AN INSPIRATIONAL AND HEARTRENDING MEMOIR ABOUT BEN BREEDLOVE, WHO SHARED HIS NEAR-DEATHEXPERIENCES AND VISIONS OF HEAVEN IN HIS VIRAL VIDEOS—WRITTEN BY HIS SISTER, ALLY BREEDLOVE. On Christmas Day 2011, Ben Breedlove’s soul went to heaven. But it wasn’t his first time there. Ben suffered from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a heart condition that posed a constant risk of sudden death. His condition, a thickening of the heart muscle, worsened over time, leaving him weak and fatigued. It also led Ben to some close calls medically, in particular cardiac arrest on four separate occasions, during which he felt the presence of angels and experienced the perfect peace of heaven. Precocious and warm, Ben was close with his family and two siblings, and forged deep relationships with his friends. He loved to wakeboard and wake surf, and he had dreams of visiting foreign countries around the world. He created the YouTube channels TotalRandomness512 and BreedloveTV, and co-created the channel OurAdvice4You, where he posted videos about everything from dating advice for girls to more serious topics like his spirituality and heart condition. Unbeknownst to his parents and family, Ben created a two-part video called "This Is My Story," in which he used flashcards to tell the world about his near-death experiences and his beckoning toward heaven. When he died a short while later, at the tender age of eighteen, his family and the rest of the world stumbled upon these videos. The world responded with overwhelming acceptance of the message Ben shared. Sharing his vision of heaven was Ben’s gift to his family, and to the world. And now this is the Breedlove family’s gift to us – an in-depth look at the life and near-deaths of Ben, the strength and faith of a family, and ultimately, the hope of heaven. Do you believe in Angels or God? I Do. – Ben Breedlove
