Description : We're all looking for answers. We just need to open our eyes to the world around us to find them. Author Chess Britt shares a delightful personal collection of down-to-earth maxims with one clear agenda: to inspire us to search for truth and wisdom. If we actively seek wisdom, says Britt, we're bound to live our happiest and most productive lives. The best part is that we don't have to look far. Truth and wisdom are often right under our noses in our everyday lives. And when we seek wisdom and learn from it, we'll be ready not only to grab life's opportunities, but to meet the challenges we will inevitably face. Britt believes in us and in our ability to carry out the search, and his encouraging words and (often humorous) stories contain an uplifting message about recognizing, embracing, and valuing those searches. The maxims--with titles like "Live to Love and Love to Live" and "It's Going to Be Okay" explore topics such as making the most of our time with other people, why anger is our enemy, the importance of patience, and even why we shouldn't waste precious time lying in bed when there are things to be done--guide with a gentle hand. Britt's suggestions are offered without judgment and have something to say to people of all ages, from all walks of life. If after reading the maxims, we want to alter our present course, the author offers questions to ponder on how to move forward. Britt's life experiences and faith guide him in this thoughtful and generous book you'll want to experience and share with anyone looking for answers.

Description : Rise Sister Rise is for the women who agreed at soul level to be here at this stage in history to lead this global shift that the mystics of all of the ages have predicted: the return of the mother and the rise of the feminine. It is essentially a call to arms for women to rise up, tell their truth, and lead. Most women have spent much of their working lives "making it" in a man’s world, leaning on patriarchal methods of survival in order to succeed, dulling down their intuition, and ignoring the fierce power of their feminine. They have ignored the cycles of the feminine in order to survive in a patriarchal linear system – but now the world has changed. Rise Sister Rise is a transmission that calls the innate feminine wisdom to rise. It is about healing the insecurities, the fears, and the inherited patterns that stop women trusting the Shakti (power) and wisdom (intuition) that effortlessly flows through them. It's about recognizing all of the ways we have been keeping ourselves contained and restrained in effort to fit into a certain archetype of woman. It’s about co-creating a whole new archetype of woman – a woman who does not keep herself small in order to make others feel more comfortable. A woman who knows like she knows like she knows that she is not her body weight, her sexual partners, or her career. A woman who deeply respects the wise woman in her life and cultivates her own wisdom every single day. Full of tools, calls to action, contemplative questions, rituals, and confrontational exercises, this book teaches women that it is safe to let Shakti rise, safe to trust their intuition, and safe to take leaps of faith – because in healing ourselves we are healing the world.

Description : Kent Greenawalt's From the Bottom Up constitutes a collection of articles and essays written over the last five decades of his career. They cover a wide range of topics, many of which address ties between political and moral philosophy and what the law does and should provide. A broad general theme is that in all these domains, what really is the wisest approach to difficult circumstances often depends on the particular issues involved and their context. Both judges and scholars too often rely on abstract general formulations to provide answers. A notable example in political philosophy was the suggestion of the great and careful scholar, John Rawls, that laws should be based exclusively on public reason. The essays explain that given uncertainty of what people perceive as the line between public reason and their religion convictions, the inability of public reason to resolve some difficulty questions, such as what we owe to higher animals, and the feeling of many that their religious understanding should count, urging exclusive reliance on public reason is not a viable approach. Other essays show similar problems with asserted bases for legal interpretations and the content of provisions such as the First Amendment.

Description : We make dozens of decisions, big and small every day--some without much thought at all. But with many decisions, there's a certain amount of danger. One wrong decision can destroy a career or a marriage. A string of wrong decisions can derail a life. So how do we know if our decisions are wise ones? Pastor Bob Merritt has found that the best way to get it right is to cultivate godly wisdom. In Get Wise, he takes God's best wisdom as found in the book of Proverbs and applies it to the top decisions every person has to make--decisions about education, work, family, friends, sex, parenting, money, and more. Topic by topic, he shows readers how to make choices that result in long-term benefits in health, reputation, peace, and finances.

Description : While most of her peers were obsessed with their iPhones, Instagramming and Snapchatting their lives, and glued to streaming TV, 19-year-old Amy Crouch was growing up with minimal technology. In My Tech-Wise Life, she and her father, Andy Crouch, share how intentional and controlled use of modern devices, apps, and services has helped her avoid many of the negative experiences of her peers and cultivate positive experiences interacting with the real world. With writing that connects on a teen-to-teen level, Amy and Andy unpack tech temptations--such as the temptation to distract ourselves from any potentially boring or awkward situation, or to stay up-to-date with every notification and trend--and then offer antidotes that lead to more patience, wisdom, honesty, and wonder in life. If you're in high school or college and devices and social media are affecting your friendships and family life, your sense of self-worth, or even how well you think you know yourself, this book will help you reevaluate your relationship with technology--and renew your relationship with the world around you.

Description : This book tackles a much neglected issue--what measure of success, in financial terms, did Shakespeare enjoy? By re-examining the considerable body of surviving about his business dealings, we can track his progress from a very low base due to his father's business failure and his own imprudent marriage to one of comfortable means--but, it is strongly argued here not, as it often vaguely assumed, to one of great wealth. Instead, as is clear from the circumstancesof his daughter's marriages and from his own efforts towards the end of his life to protect his assets, he cannot be shown to have achieved convincing gentry status even in the context of a midlandsmarket town. On the other hand, especially when compared with his father's career, it is clear that he appreciated the importance of business credit and the need to avoid over-ambitious ventures.

Description : Game of Thrones, one of the hottest series on television, leaves hundreds of critics divided on how “feminist” the show really is. Certainly the female characters, strong and weak, embody a variety of archetypes—widow queens, warrior women, damsels in distress, career women, priestesses, crones, mothers and maidens. However, the problem is that most of them play a single role without nuance—even the “strong women” have little to do besides strut about as one-note characters. This book analyzes the women and their portrayals one by one, along with their historical inspirations. Accompanying issues in television studies also appear, from the male gaze to depiction of race. How these characters are treated in the series and how they treat themselves becomes central, as many strip for the pleasure of men or are sacrificed as pawns. Some nude scenes or moments of male violence are fetishized and filmed to tantalize, while others show the women’s trauma and attempt to identify with the scene’s female perspective. The key is whether the characters break out of their traditional roles and become multidimensional.

Description : There is no more important lesson in life to understand, then it is your thoughts that create your reality! Your thoughts create your feelings, emotions, behavior and what you attract and magnetize into your life. Many people think that we see with our eyes. The truth is we see through our consciousness, minds and belief system! There are in truth only two philosophies and feelings and emotions in life. The philosophy and feeling of fear, and the philosophy and feeling of Love. The key to realizing God is to only think and feel from your Love based/Spiritual/Christ/Buddha mind. This is why the Bible states, "Let this mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus!" It is by mastering our mind that all negative feeling and emotions can be released and one can learn to live in self mastery, centeredness, unconditional love, joy, peace, forgiveness, nonjudgmentalness and equanimity at all times!
